I'm looking for a database program with 320x480 support, configurable for multiple tasks including the ability to handle a fair amount of text in the individual fields. It needs to have a desktop component and be able to access data from memory cards. Ideally, I would love it if it could run entirely form a card as I'm getting limited on room. I've been looking primarily at HanDbase and Mobile Access. Any thoughts?
Thanks,

That was one of the ones I was looking at. Any thoughts about how it compares to Mobile Access?

(That was my post earlier.) I have not used Mobile Access, but like HandBase. I am still creating more elaborate uses, but like the syncing with MS Access. I do wish forms on MS Access could be copied to handheld. If you store db on card, it will NOT sync with desktop.

I've downloaded the Pro version of HanDBase and am working with it now. I don't have Access, so that's not an issue. It seems to be pretty accessible, but I'm learning database programming kinda form scratch.

Hij I've used HanDBase for many years and if you need to have a fully relational database with links to existing tables which you already have etc.... then it can't be beaten. But take a look at JFile.. Rock solid, flexible has encryption and a nice easy interface to move files to and from memory cards...

Actually HanDBase seems to be working fine for me. The forms, though... i'm having a hard time figuring out.

Wow, the tutorials at
http://www.ddhsoftware.com/support.html?UID=2004050916150767.101.44.127
are really helpful. I got a running balance going and understand basically how to create the forms. But that's a prject for another day...

HanDbase doesn't support one of your stated requirements..that of 320x480 support. But beyond that its a good database if you have the patience to work through the form design.
Also, their current major version has been around awhile so I wouldn't be surpised if an upgrade isn't forthcoming.
You might sign up for the Handbase discussion group at Yahoo Groups.
Seems from what I've seen, the two front of the pack data bases are HanDbase and SmartListToGo. Each have their own benefits. SmartListToGo just went through a version upgrade which added the HiRes+, better card integration and a few other features.
SLTG excels in ease of use and screen resolution and as I understand it, complex expressions. HanDbase wins if you need encryption or want "fancier" forms. HDB's forms blow the doors off of SLTG, but are much harder to build.

I signed up for the yahoo group already, just waiting to hear I've been accepted. I get partial use of the 320x480, that is it works in the list view, but not the data enty view. I hope they improve both that and the card integration, the databases get large very quickly.
Btw, what's up with the interface tonight? I had to use IE as Netscape 7.1 showed no left hand column, was functionally limited and in French? Now I speak a little French, but not that well...
