The Mapopolis website has free software that converts memos into speech. I installed then into my TH55 and everything works fine. The software is under "Free Stuff."

Omar,

Thank you VERY much! I've been looking for something like that, I had NO idea that it was available and freeware too! You've just made my day - in a big way! :D

Best wishes,
Bawko

I can't seem to make the Book Reader work though...

I haven't been able to get the BookReader app to work either. It shows "SpeakMemo" in the title bar when I run it, but doesn't list any of the books or any memos on the screen. The SpeakMemo app does work nicely.

I'm also trying to figure out what these "book" files are. They seem to be XML files in a palmdoc format. They use TypeID "data" though, so most Palmdoc readers/editors don't even see them.

Bummer.

Well there is a reference to a limited demo version in one of the .txt files, so maybe there is a more polished version on the way for money.

It is very cool for a gee wiz, but I don't have any direct application for this application, so into the archives it goes.

It's kinda big anyway.

That text file looks like it's so programmers can use Pspeak in their own applications. It looks to me like they've included a "demo" mode inside the Pspeak engine for other front-end programs to enable/disable. I bet none of the included stuff is going to expire.

It certainly is big. I wouldn't want it in RAM all the time. But it would be nice on occasion to be able to listen to docs and perhaps memos as well.
