View Full Version : Surfing the web below 50% signal strength?

Hi everybody!
i got my TJ37 for quite a while now and i'm really satisfied with the device (didnt have the money for a UX50 ;))
i got all the starter problems resolved and can surf at home, at my university, and even do wifi-hotsyncs, no problem...
the only thing that keeps bothering me is that i can't seem to do ANY wireless features when the signal strengh drops below about 50%, meaning netfront, verichat and other apps won't be able to connect to websites or anything on the web even if my TJ37 still seems to be connected (50% isnt that bad, is it?). i tried deactivating the "power saving" feature in the wireless options, but that didnt seem to help.
i 'm just afraid that i'm wasting half the range that could be possible for using wireless features.
is this normal? i thought that wifi devices would still operate at ,let's say, 30% signal strengh, with the speed degrading with the distance to the access point...
any others having this??
thank you for your help

i got this Hagiwara WiFi MS and i did not see any tool so far which tells me about the signal strengh. is that bundled with you wifi solutions only or is there a chance i could use your tools too???

Well to simplify some things the max transmit time out allowed for a TCP is 2 seconds (or was it 2 minutes I can't quite remember)...plus you're probably breaking the fragmentation threshold on the router...try setting that higher or turning it off to get kind of a "try a little harder" affect.

that's just a guess though...

My UX surfs at 10-30% when I'm jacking signal from next door (apartment) and it goes fine.
