I installed this patch about three weeks ago and have not had a fatal error with my TJ25...

sysupdatefortj2535.exe

I stumbled across it at http://www.Sonystyle.ca after the support people at Sony told me they had not heard of a problem caused by the memory stick being ejected while the unit was off...

Here is their description of the patch:
This program updates the system software and resolves the following issues:
After turning the CLIÉ® handheld off, the handheld either cannot be powered back on or functions unstably. "Fatal Alert" and "Fatal Exception" messages may also appear when attempting to launch an application. This may occur when Alarm Setup and Data Protection settings change after the handheld is powered off.
The battery power is drained if Memory Stick® media is inserted and then removed from the CLIÉ handheld after it has been turned off.
Repeatedly starting and stopping the play of stereo music to external stereo speakers using the Aero Player application on the PEG-TJ35, may cause sound that is supposed to originate from one speaker to originate from the other speaker instead.

Cheers,
Dan

Do you have a url for the patch code? I've been unable to find it via any searches.

Thanks

I see you signed your note as a dissatisfied owner of a Clie. I can agree with you 150%. My Tj35 has been at the repair center 5 times and the 5th time they replaced it with a refurbished TJ35. If I had wanted a refurbished TJ35 I would have saved myself $50+ and purchased one instead of buying new. My problem has been the battery not holding a charge and not once did they ever mention this patch which I'm hoping will solve the problem.

Sorry for the delay...

here is the address for Sony Support (I'm not sure if that qualifies as an oxymoron)

http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/

follow the clie link and select your product
