Do you happen to have any pictures of the case?

Anyone from GlobalSource know details about the TH55 case? I was going to buy a leather case from Covertec or Vaja, but may hold off (they're not available yet anyway), if a good hard case is on the way from Innopocket...

I'm curious about how people use a hard care. Do you leave the PDA in it all the time or do you take it out when you're using it? How easy is it to take the PDA in and out of the case?
The metal cases are cool looking, but if they inhibit the use of the TH55's buttons, I don't think I'll get one.

I prefer leather to aluminum...
Go to http://rhinoskin.com/rhinoskin/prod.cfm?cat_id=5018&prod_id=5099
It is the best hard case. You can pluck the unit out in a sec if you want access to the buttons and such. Otherwise it is a perfect way to protect the unit. The price is down seventy dollars from the original price. It fits my th55 like a champ. Ti is a great metal with a great feel. The case is made so so nice. It is a work of art.

I don't get it. A regular case is more than enough shock protection. The only usefulness I can imagine for a hard case are:
- Sitting on your unit. (But why?)
- You live in a rough neighborhood and you don't want your TH55 to get hit by a stray bullet.
Karim....just wait until that baby drops four feet. Broke one PDA and never again after a hard case.

I would kill myself for dropping something that cost me $400, hard case or no. I've never dropped any of my toys before [6 portable game systems, 9 MP3 players, TH55, etc.]. I dropped an NES once when I was four. But that's different. Nintendo products don't seem to be breakable, lol.

For those more accident-prone than Karim;)
I just received the http://www.rhinoskin.com/rhinoskin/outlet_item.cfm?item_id=5968 It is the slider version, for $9.95.
I did not want a play-through case, but wanted something to keep my 55 safe during transit. The Clie fits easily into the case. I chose this one, because I though from the pic that it may be able to hold the clie at an angle for reading... no go, but it is perfect for what I need. You are not going to fit this is normal pockets, but now i can throw the clie in my laptop case without worrying about it getting broke.
As always.... ymmv :D

A hard case would be too inconvenient for me to use daily, but it would have it's usefulness for travelling. I would just stick it in an available pocket and not worry too much about it getting knocked around.

I used the Innopocket case with my T665C. It worked so well for me that after a while I forget the case was there. It just became a part of the Clie. With that case I carried the T665 in my back jeans pocket with no worries. With the Flyin' Home hack to assign up to 10 apps to button combinations, the T665 was very quick on the draw. If you can picture it: whip it out, open case-start app with button(s)-stylus out (if needed), and I was good to go. :) I am significantly slower with the TH55 in comparison.
With the TH55 I am not sure any metal case is going to work well enough, primarily because comfortable access to the back buttons is so important to me. Unfortunately, so far it doesn't look like that particular facility comes easily with leather cases either but I guess that's another topic. I'm also looking for a change in experience in any case, and will likely go with a leather case.

Innopocket has released a hard case. I discovered it today.
http://www.innopocket.com/EShop/Main/product.php?ID=114&name=Sony
Unfortunately they do not have a set of good pictures which shows the button access.
I want to have a look at it at a shop before I decide.

The Innopocket case isn't coming out until the week of May 24:

I sent Global Source an e-mail asking about access to the rear navigation buttons, they didn't know. They forwarded my question to Innopocket, hopefully I will have an answer soon.

um, the MS storage makes the case HUMONGOUS!
seriously it's huge!
I had the innopocket hardcase for my TG50 for one day then couldn't stand it cuz it made the unit so huge I could no longer fit it in m pocket.

Innopocket's site lists it as weighing just over 2 oz. with dimensions of 5.1"x3"x.9" (give or take a mm or two).
Sounds light and small to me.

some one asked about the rhinoskins. yes, i keep it in the case when i use it. yet, for some things, like pictures, you have to take the unit out. i usually, take the unit out of the case when working for an extended time. but the rhinoskin fit makes the case come out very very easy and when it is in it is very snug. nice thing about the case was it kept the unit much cleaner. some of us are not stuck in labs when we have to move around with these things. dirt and grime is always a concern given the camera and all.
