It might be because of the fact that Gmail is choosy on it's users browsers. You can arbitrarily set your Netfront's User-Agent on Page 4 of Netfront Settings to something like:
Mozilla 4.0 ( compatible; MSIE 6.0 )

Gmail simply does not support Netfront, yet. Gmail is still very heavily in a testing phase.

moUk, I can access Gmail in Safari. I have 10.3.3.

Oops. Sorry. It seems that Gmail doesn't only rely on the UA of the browser only but some JS, I think. So Joel's right.

Yeah, Gmail has plans for HTML support in the future (and I think they told me about a mobile version, can't remember). But at this point, it doesn't work with PDAs, though I wonder if Pocket PCs might work.

Doesn't NF do Javacript?

Maybe Gmail uses some complex Javascript NF can't handle. When you switch different views (Inbox, Starred, etc.) the Javascript switches the page view without loading, so there's some stuff going on.

I hope they add POP access, then we'd have a way to access email regardless. But I imagine they will add a HTML version for mobile access.

yea, even safari sometimes can't handle it, still buggy

I highly doubt they'd add POP access, unless it's accessible with only a Google program or if it were for pay. They need the ad revenues.

And frankly, having POP access would pretty much defeat the whole purpose of 1 GB of mail space, yah? IMAP might be more feasible.

I read in an interview that they were planning on adding it.

But you're right, it kinda defeats the purpose of the 1 Gig space. Although you could download messages without deleting them from the server.

ugh, its kinda buggy here, using safari, sometimes it load, sometimes it doesn't, but hey, who can complain, 1 gig, 10mb in form of an attachment to and from :D

Wish it were 25 MB. MIT servers allow up to 25 MB, and that's pretty handy for large documents.

But the other problem is, i cant login to gmail using Opera browser. the reason is bcoz opera doesnt support ActiveX. So, i doubt netfront would work.

Can you do that trick and change Netfront setting so it tricks the site to thinking it is IE 6?

I tried but Gmail has nice built-in security features that can't be bypassed.
