I just switched to a new NZ90. I love it!
I had an NR before, and the very first thing I did was to put the MS in the new device testing every old program I used to use to see if there were improvements. And then I did the big mistake, I tried JackSprat.
That corrupted all my flash memory! (at least this is what I think happened, however the Clie is not working anymore :( )
Could anyone PLEASE send me a copy of the ROM?
That could really help me solving this problem!

Thanks in advance!

Jacksprat isn't OS5 compatible yet......

How did you get jacksprat to even work? when i had my NX i put it onto the unit and started the program and it said Jackaprat was not compatible with this unit. I dont think it's comaptible at all with OS5 yet. i know they're working on it, though.

I think it is worth doing a hard reset. May be you just copied a bad file from your old machine (assuming JS doesn't work).

Hard reset: hold power button while poking the reset hole. When the palm logo comes up, let go of the power button and press the up button.

If this does not fix it, then sorry.

Yup, hard reset (use reset inset button with power button pressed) and hope for the best. Or else try to return. Man, I thought I was cutting edge but you win!

Here's a possible hitch....If you say you messed up the RAM (which should have been impossible, since Jacksprat does not work on OS5 yet) even hard resetting WILL NOT put it back to normal. If the RAM is toasted, it's toasted. Hard reset will only restore the RAM to what is in there currently. So if you try and return it, probably drain the battery so they won't notice anything wrong, since they will not be able to turn it on.

Jacksprat increases your flash memory see this:

I would call Sony Support. There is a 1-800 number, and they are really great. If it can be fixed, they can help you fix it. I have made the mistake of using some applications that were not Palm 5 compatible with my NX, and have had crashes. (So far no crashes with my NZ) Sony Support helped me fix. I had to do a hard reset, and then put everything back in one by one. Good Luck!

I call BS on this story. One of the first things I did was to try Jacksprat (I think all off us OS5 CLIE owners have done it at least once), and there was absolutely no opportunity for the ROM to be altered in any way. Too bad you skipped the NX, or you would have been able to make your story a bit more convincing.

I don't think it's jacksprat (possibly a BS, but I like to give people benefit of the doubt).

I think the original poster copy in a system file or two from the older version of the OS that really caused the problem. I think we all have done it before, i.e., beaming the wrong file from the old hardware that causes new hardware to act strangely.

A hard reset should fix this.
