I bough a UX50 back in september from the US, but I live in Europe (Greece).
My Clie was placed on its cradle yesterday and when I took it off today I realized that it is dead. No response whatsoever.
I don't know if it is the clie itself or the cradle, but I cannot get support anywhere!
Sony does not import any Clies in Greece...
The UK support where I also occasionally live does not provide any help because the serial number is from the US, starting with a 3.
The US support site also does not provide any help because I don't live in the states.
Way to go Sony, this is what's called global customer support.
Anybody can offer any help or advice???
I am thinking of throwing the Clie in the bin and buying a Palm. At least their support works. I had a m505 bought in the US and when it stopped working it was repaired for free right here in Greece.

hi saw ur condition, i think it happened to my palm and clie sj-33 before.
try recharging it again this time if possible take out the battery and connect it to the ux-50 again before rehcarging.
see if there is the amber light if no amber lights, it coul dbe ur battery had killed itself prematurely.
another way to test is to get another battery of the ux and see if it works. tried asking from stores and do it as a favour to lend u the battery if need.
even if new battery goes in and ur clie is dead still i guess something is wrong then.

Can't really help your situation, but I sympathise with your problems with Sony support. They are absolutely useless when it comes to customer support, particularly international support. When you consider that they are a global player, it just isn't good enough.
You don't have to search these forums long to find people like you who have also had similar problems with Sony. They either brush you off or give you information that is wrong. I had trouble with my previous clie (415), contacted support in HK and the USA and got brushed off.
I hope you rectify the situation...............and I hope Sony Support lives up to their name for a change.

Check make sure its not from the cradle. Maybe its not charging right. Maybe its unplugged somewhere. If you have a pet make sure he didnt nibble on the cables. Try resetting the device. Try a hard reset. Make sure the 2 metal charging pins on the charger are still there. Make sure there is nothing blocking the metal charging plates at the bottom of the clie.

The exact same thing happend to me this weekend. I took the clie ux-50 off of the charger and when i went to turn it on...nothing happend!! :( And when I talked to sony support i wanted to reach through the phone and start a massive shaking campaign. They told me Sony has no loaner program and that I would have to send in my Clie to get it fixed if they can fix it. But it doesn't make sense that it would die like that. I just got my clie in late november and I have an extended battery!?!? I dunno I was quite upset. After months of pure glee with my clie, I am now faced with fourteen or more days of digital darkness...

I have done something similar to this before. One night, I was of course at the computer trying every app one can try in one evening and just before I sent to bed, I put the UX in it's cradle (or so I had thought) and went and jumped into bed.
The next morning, I picked up my UX only to find that it was nearly chargeless. Somehow I noticed that it is possible to put your UX in the cradle where it looks like it is firmly seated but it's not, hence the drain. Make sure it is firmly seated in the cradle.
I'm not patronizing you so don't take this the wrong way. Sometimes, we just do accidental stupid things. (At least I do. My magic is that no one ever really knows except me :D)

Do a search on 'died UX50', you will find a procedure described by Hausman, on how to disconnect your battery. This saved my a... and many others as well. maybe you have the same problem!
