View Full Version : Can receive but not send email
When I attempt to send an email, I get the error message "SMTP:550 unauthorized interface for 66.57.196.17. Can anyone explain this?

You're using ClieMail, correct? Does your SMTP server require authorization? If so, you'll need to set that up in the options before you can send an email.
I'm not sure. I've got a user name and password. What other authorization would it need? Can I find it on Outlook, which I use for email on my laptop?
Bumping this back to page 1.

It's possible that your wifi connection(ie at work) isn't the one that your email account is with? Some accts require you t o be logged into their connection (ie compuseve) in order t send email to foil spammers. You will necd to find a free SMTP server to use. Rob
Rob, my wifi connection at home, which is the one I am trying to send from, is RoadRunner, while I use ATTGlobal for my email ISP. But, I have no trouble sending email with my laptop using this arrangement. Wouldn't I be having problems both ways if what you are saying is the problem?

Normally it is the same authorization you already configured to get your emails.
Now, when your SMTP server requires you to authorize on send to you will have to define the same username and password within the settings of ClieMail for SMTP authentication.
Have you set that up?
Another possibility might be that your email provider requires that you "pop before send". This would mean, that you'll need to check your inbox prior to sending.
Thanks, Chris. I'll try those settings tonight. Sony support suggests a hard reset. Is that their answer for everything?
