View Full Version : Quick ways to launch Decuma?

Most of the time I am using my UX50 with the screen flipped (covering the keyboard) and wide screen (covering the graffity area). That means, I can neither use the keyboard nor graffity for text input.

Hence, I would like to quickly launch Decuma to enter text. However, I couldn't find a way to achieve this without first collapsing the widescreen and then tapping on the letter "A" in the graffity area.

I tried to assign Decuma to a shortcut, but this only launches the Decuma preferences screen.

Any ideas? Thanks you.

if you're using it mostly/all of the time in tablet mode, you should've gone with the TH-55 UK version, which has everything the UX has minus a keyboard and landscape (but it does have portrait)

I don't know if their is a way to do this, because as you said a shortcut button takes u to the prefs. IMO, learn Graffiti 2 :-D

You're right, but having this great little device sitting on my desktop (not carrying it around) I am *very* happy that it does have a keyboard...

Sorry for the bump.. I know that this thread is nearly a year old.

I've only had my UX40 for about a month now, and am wondering if anyone within the past year has figured any alternatives out yet?

Please forgive my bump.. but I didn't want to start a new thread and then get yelled at for not searching first ;) :p

No alternatives. Decuma only runs in 320x320 on the UX50.

Yah, I'd be ok with the 320x320.. it's just that I was hoping to find a quicker way to launch Decuma. Eg, map it to a hard button or something. (So using Decuma doesn't have to be a two step process: open silk screen, tap the small 'a', which often takes me a few taps to hit it right... rather, if I could just open it with one press of a button, that'd be much more efficient)

For whatever reason, this problem has been giving me heartburn trying to solve it. However, I may have come up with a solution but you will have to be the judge because I don't use Decuma.

There is a little launcher app called QuickApp that I used to use to launch apps by using only the buttons. I had QuickApp mapped to the snapshot or capture button and when depressed, it would invoke QA. From there, the apps that you want to launch are user-defined so you could add Decuma to the list and launch it through QA. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but it's worth a shot. It's freeware on PalmGear.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm not sure if it would work, as if you tell it to launch Decuma, you will probably just get the Decuma prefs screen. Eg, like if you map Decuma to one of the UX's Ctrl+N hotkeys.

I'd probably need to know what tapping the little 'a' launches... hmm

If you have the VG hidden you can launch decuma by swaping you stylus along your status bar. That works on my TH55

Sorry, which way are you dragging across the status bar? I tried up and down, but it didn't seem to do anything. (Although, I did discover that dragging from the status bar to the screen opens the command menu haha. Thanks for that at least, ;) hehehe :) )

On my TH55 draggin from left to right brings up the next silkplugin, from right to left brings up the previous silkplugin. I thought it would with up and down in your UX.

Answering my own question: In the meantime I found a tool that allows you to quickly launch Decuma, by simply tapping in one (definable) corner on the screen. It's called SilkScreen by www.rogame.com. All other tools I tried didn't work, because they simply brought up the prefs screen. Silkscreen really emulates the tap on the "a" sign in the silk area.

Thanks, however!

If you just want to switch to Decuma, then you just need to do a swipe from one side of the little collapsed VG area bar thingy (WTF is it called?!?!) to the other side, e.g. from the little magnifying glass to the clock area.

This will un-collapse the VG area and bring up the Decuma entry mode.

Do an opposite swipe to go back, or tap on the Silk Plugins icon (4th from left) and press the (i) info button - It will tell you everything you need to know.

MrNako mentioned this already... unfortunately, the UX series status bar is different. I've tried swiping my status bar up and down, but it doesn't do anything. There is no silk plugins icon on the UX.

From top to bottom:
Show/hide grafitti icon
Up arrow icon
Down arrow icon
Clock
Memory stick icon...

-gap-

Then at the bottom, bottom to top:
Home icon
Menu icon
Battery icon
Audio icon
WiFi icon (UX50 only)
