please help!!!!!

hi, i have a video on my memory stick, i have a NX70V, and im trying to bring it onto my desktop and convert it. I have brought it to the desktop but the file extension is an MAI, how do i change this to an mpeg or avi? thanks

Just rename it to .mov. Quicktime 5 and above will open it.

Just right click on the file and choose rename.

i did change it, and the icon did change to the quicktime icon, but when i went to play it, i got an error message, saying: quicktime could not open the file because it is not a file quicktime understands. thanks for your help so far though.

The problem is that you're pulling over the wrong file...the MAI portion is just the Thumbnail....you need to grab the file that is in the MQ_ROOT/100MQV01 directory with an MQV extension.

If you have Quicktime 6 installed you can view this file two was...either rename the file to MOV or better yet change the association in windows to open MQV files with Quicktime...that way you just drag and drop and click...and you're viewing!
