I am a current NX owner and just saw the NZ today at CompUSA. It doesn't seem that much bigger, I didn't like that rubber cover for the cradle. The stylus was not in the holder since someone already stole it or they are trying to keep someone from stealing it. I wanted to see how the sylus looked but was not able to. I also noticed that when in the closed mode, the cover didn't seat all the way down and there seemed to be a gap. Is this the way it is with you current NZ owners or is this because this was a "trashed" demo model that has seen better days? I wasn't able to do much with it because of all the security crap they got taped to the cover but overall impressions was that I WANT ONE!

The rubber cover is a pain, the stylus is ...well, I think you have to form your own opinion, I don't have any issues with it yet, but some have said it's unsecure. The cover on the one you were looking at probably had a black zip-tie around it that prevented it from closing all the way.
I love it.

Nope, didn't have a ziptie but did have two sensors attached to the cover so I couldn't turn it into tablet mode. I really do wanna get one but that sorta bothers me. The NX that was sitting right next to it had a perfect fit.

I had both and didn't notice any difference in the gap.

Ok, good... it must've been just trashed because it was a demo. I really couldn't even play with it very well since there was no stylus, had to use my fingernail. Wish they did a better job with that cradle door though.

my cover doesn't sit all the way down especially at the end away from the hinge.
the ones i looked at on display are pretty much all the same way too.
Yah had to bring it up. now it bothers me....

I just checked one out at CompUSA last night and was surprised to see the casing is black plastic instead of the nice magnesium on the NR and NX devices. Is this really plastic or does it just feel like plastic? The metal casing is one of the reasons I really like my NX.
The power connector on the back is strange and that combined with the thickness doesn't seem like it will allow me to use the game controller. Is this true?
I think I'll wait for the NX with more RAM.

The Sony NZ .pdf says magnesium. If you tap it with a penny it has a metallic "tink" to it. When I got mine it was fresh off the truck and extremely cold. Much colder than plastic gets. If you want absolute proof, you're gonna have to scratch it!!!

I'm still getting used to the keyboard, i like it better than my old NX but the keys are so flush with the panel that its hard to know you're pressing the right key.

Just got my NZ yesterday (finally)!!
the casing is a metal sort of casing, NOT plastic.
I love everything about it, what I don't care for is:
-the stylus, although it seems very secure once inside...it seems difficult to slide it into place...
-the cradle doesn't seem to lock into the unit very well...this was a problem while trying to hold the NZ w/ the cradle folded up to view images over the TV..the cradle kept wanting to slide away.
those are my only complaints!
oh also my unit folds down seemlessly!

overall I love the NZ... the little things (stylus and cradle) are minor as I am concerned...the positives far outweigh the negatives.... can I just say the NZ is sweeeeeeEEEEEEeeet!

Now that you mention the stylus issue - does anyone know if the replacement styli from Sony fit the NZ90?

Thanks for the clarification on the casing. I guess it was just too warm in the CompUSA to tell the difference. The problem is that now you have me thinking about upgrading from my NX.
I thought the keyboad was a nice improvement over the NR/NX design and it it had a backlight then I would probably be sold. The hardest part is trying to type at night and remember where all the punctuation, etc. is.
The camera seemed to be awesome and I finally saw how it flips to the back to take photos in a more traditional manner than all the images I have seen with the camera facing you. This is tempting, but I think I'll hold off for a bit because I am strapped for cash.
