Hello,
Anybody knows of a metronome applications, capable of producing loud, prefferably wav or midi-types of tones (possibly with the help of MCA2)?
Have tried several apps, but all of them are too quite and have just basic beeps.
I'm using NX60
Thanks,
Yuly

Yuly,
Try the sunset and labrea metronome found here:
http://www.sunsetandlabrea.com/metronome.html
It is the best one I have found, although the "loudness" you are trying for is most likely a limitation of the Clie speaker, not the software. Try plugging a stereo cable from your Clie to your mixer or amp to get more volume. Or, buy a cheap set of PC speakers and plug them into your Clie for more volume.
Best wishes,

Thanks for the link, Bawko! I'll have to try this one. I've found some apps I really liked, but Sony's API really limited playback options. I wonder if CliePet's MCA2 hack would improve things any? Haven't had time to give it a try (and my new WiFi MS arrives Monday, so it might be awhile!)

PBM808,
No - not so far. However, Sunset and Labrea (the same people who make the metronome app) also have a guitar tuner app that generates tones through the speaker/headphone jack. I have found it to be of somewhat limited usefulness, but I do keep it on my Clie for emergencies when my regular guitar tuner battery dies.
Best wishes,

Yes there is!!!!!!!!!
One of them, Aerotuner, (http://www.aerodrome.us/download.html),
is still beta, but more importantly for me, it does work on NX60 with latest MCA. Glitches here and there, mostly related with MCA, but a satisfactory performance.
The other one, Phonature (http://www.phonature.com/home/products_pdaApp_palm_PhonTuner.htm), seems to be more advanced, but does not currently work with MCA and requires latest OS versions.
Besides, there is a handset of applications that are able to generate a tone for tuning.
Just now I re-discovered another pair of apps from http://www.fiftycycle.com/
The actually have both tuner and metronome. The metronome works with MCA and gives true wave sound! Could be louder, but already good!
The tuner I have yet to test when I get home.

ymilner,
Thanks for the great information!
I've downloaded the various tuner applications you listed, and will be trying them later today. So far, it all looks very promising!
Best wishes,

I agree, A.C. Thanks for the new apps--I'm looking forward to trying them, too.

Thanks a lot dude. i tested it out today and far as i can tell, it's working. i just have yet to figure out the display. i think its a guitar tuner since it has the drop D and open E or whatever sets.
i was hoping for a general tuner since i also play saxophone, cello, trumpet, and other stuff like that. the metronome app is cool too, but one improvement i would make is a middle block on the bottom so counting in 3/4 would always have the dominant beat in the same place

I really like Perfect beat.......simple and nice......but it costs something like $6.......its got all the basic features a drummer might want, different time signatures, different note signatures.
It even has a record feature where you can tap a beat into it and it will play at that tempo.
All this time I used to get midi sound beeps out of it, but with Mca2 installed I just noticed that another option has popped up for choosing between beep and wav sounds (dull sounding thuds...not too great but better than the beeps)
Here's the webpage

You're going to love this. Using MCA2, Perfect Beat works fine set to quarter notes in 4/4, with the wave sound, up until 98 beats per minute. At 99 it starts dropping a beat every third measure. The choice of beat moves up one each time, first the second is dropped, then the third, etc. This does not happen with the beep sound and is reproducable. This seems like maybe a memory error using the wave sound?

PS Did some more testing... The faster the tempo past that point, the more beats are dropped.
