View Full Version : Why invalid network settings.

I did all the setings required to establish a netwrok ( via bluetooth ) between my Clie and PC, The connection is okay but I can not browse :

when I type in NetFront www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) , I get the message invalid network Settings.

Look at the details for your connection, and especially the DNS servers. Chances are you don't have working DNS resolution, and may have to fill in the DNS servers manually.
To quickly find out what the DNS servers are supposed to be, type in "ipconfig /all" on a command prompt on your Windows box, or "cat /etc/resolv.conf" on a Unix/Linux/BSD box.

Ok, that makes sense to me... but exactly where would you input the DNS? I see no options available under any of my network settings. Am I being dense again! LOL.

In the Prefs app, go to Network settings, tap "Details", then tap the connection, and choose "Edit" from the pull-down menu. Then tap the "IP address" check box, and a new screen will appear where you can fill in all the information normally retrieved from a DHCP server.
