Hey what's with this weak little alarm on the TJ27. I have a set of alternative alarm sounds on my new Clie, that helps a little. But, dude, it's so wimpy.
I bought the Clie on a visit to the US. It has a lot of cool features. But I'm so dependent on the alarm reminders I'd almost return it and get a Palm Tungsten just because of the alarm. (Yes, I'm sure the TJ37 has a much better alarm.)
Is there anything I can do to make the alarm louder. In preferences it's already set to high.

The TJ25/27 have nothing more than a simple beeper for an alarm. Yes, it can be made to play custom sounds, but it's nothing as far as volume or fidelity.
If you're looking at a Palm Tungsten as a replacement, though, let me recommend reconsidering and looking at the TJ35/37. The price differential (between Palm and Sony) isn't that much, and IMHO they're much better units. I've got a friend with a T|E, and he's jealous of my TJ25, even though he has MP3 capability. Take a good hard look at the next level Sonys before making a final choice. You won't be disappointed, I'm sure.

OK I like the jog dial. But what other features are better?

TJ35 and TJ37 both have MP3 players. That's one improvement over the TJ25/27, but is the same as the T|E. T35/37 all have 32 Mb of RAM, so there's no difference there. TJ35 has no camera, where TJ27/37 both do, T|E has no option there. The other major difference between the three models is that the TJ37 has wifi (TJ35 does not), which the T|E doesn't have at all. That, and the TJ series has a faster CPU (and I think may have more ROM as well).
Does that help?

Where did you find alternative sounds that are compatible for the TJ27? I've been looking for a bit, but it looked like OS4 sound packs weren't compatible with OS5, and the only OS5 sounds I found were polyphonic sounds that weren't supported unless your PDA had MP3 capability. I'd love to find out either of those wrong, or just find a source for some different sounds for the 27.

I've found that a custom sounds pdb that I used on my M105 is working fine on my TJ25. The M105 is an OS3.5 device, so I'd assume that anything that uses the pre-OS4 sounds should work fine in that case. If you want the one I've got, pm me with your email and I'll send it your way.
