I don't know if this has been posted in this forum, but I am offering it as a new thread so one doesn't have to go burrowing through other thread's replies...enjoy! These settings are exactly what is on my Clie PEG-TJ37, and it HotSyncs very nicely via the wireless. Cheers!

The following are set-up instructions for WiFi hotsync when these conditions are met in full:
1. The computer being synced to is on the same network as the wireless handheld
2. Internet Connection Firewall is NOT enabled on the PC being synced with
3. There is only ONE router being used on the ENTIRE home network
4. The synced PC is in the same IP range as the wireless handheld

Have fun, this is going to take a while...

1. Go to the "Prefs" section on your handheld's settings
2. Click on "Network" on the drop-down menu
3. Click on "Wireless LAN" on the "service" drop-down menu
4. Click on "Details"
5. Click "Scan"
6. Select (Highlight) the network connection that the scanner finds - make sure it matches the network name of the network in your house
7. Click "Edit"
8. Make sure the SSID matches the SSID of your router...for instance, if you have a LinkSys wireless router and have not changed any of its settings, the SSID would be, by default, "linksys"
9. Make sure that no WEP setting is chosen, unless you are positive that your wireless router is set to use a WEP key
10. Select "Infrastructure" under "ConnectMode"
11. Select "Autoconnect" so the box has a check in it
12. Click "Advanced Setup"
13. Put a check in the box labled "Auto IP address"
14. Put a check in the box labled "Auto DNS address"
15. Put a check in the box labled "Power Save Mode" if so desired
16. Click "Ok"
17. Click "Ok"
18. Click..."Ok"...again...

NOW, for the HotSync section!

FIRST, right click on the hotsync manager icon in your system tray, then click on "setup"

Now, Click on the Network tab, and click the button that says "TCP/IP Settings"

Write down the PC IP address displayed there, as you will need it later

19. Click on the HotSync icon in your launcher
20. Click on the "Modem" button so it is highlighted instead of "local"
21. Make sure the box directly under the big hotsync button says "Wireless LAN"...if not, select it, then select "Wireless LAN" from the drop-down menu
22. Select "Modem Sync Prefs" from the menu options in HotSync setup
23. Select "Network", then press "Ok"
24. Select "LANSync Prefs" from the menu options in HotSync setup
25. Select "Local Hotsync", then press "Ok"
26. Select "Primary PC Setup" from the menu options in HotSync setup
27. Under primary PC name, enter two (2) exclamation points, like this: !!
28. Under Primary PC Address, enter the IP address that you wrote down a little earlier from the HotSync manager
29. Click "Ok", go back to the main HotSync screen

That !! is PalmOS language for "Ignore whatever the primary PC name may be...just connect to the IP address I specify." :)

I can confirm it works fine with the UX50 both through WiFi and BT->GSM (Cingular), some things to note:

PC Address MUST be IP, not a domain name.

Subnet mask is not necessary.

If you're doing this through a router, make sure to use DMZ or port forwarding to point 14237 (TCP) and 14238 (UDP) to the system with network hotsync running.

I'm using missing sync on the Mac, and network sync works flawlessly.

Thanks for the info, and just glad it works so well!

Hi I'm a bit new to this...but does does wifi work with Palm Clie PEG-SJ33?

Welcome deonline.
First off sj33 doesnt have wi-fi like TJ-37. Wi fi also allows you to connect to the internet, but also drains a lot of power. Wi-fi uses a particular wireless broadcasting band and thus it is "wireless"

However most older Palm and palmlike devices also offer the option of modem connection. You may need to purchase an adapter if you want to use the modem option.
Basically since it seems you are really lost, maybe the question you are asking is how do you hotsync? If a person can't hotsync the regular way, don't even try to hotsyn using wi-fi. The hotsync answer is out there, if you are more specific in your question maybe I can answer it here.

Huh mr gadgetguru05? If you have an netfront browser supposedly you have wi fi. On my TJ-37 when I press search a little green light goes on, because the ieee 802.11b is working.

When you are working with bluetooth, any lights or symbol shows? Also when you use wifi, you can see the battery strength slowly drain away....

BTW aren't you the guy who disassembled your clie and put some cardboard in to keep the wi-fi chip in place?

Yes, it's me... My wifi is working now, thanks to all gadget geeks in here... but i still cant sync with wifi not BT...

Thats sure that the wifi and battery are not good friends on UX50.

Can anybody help please. I am trying to connect to me Wi-Fi router. The PDA recognises the network as it appears, but when I select it, it tries to connect, then always says "No signal". Yet I am right next to the router and I do get the signal throuhg my laptop. The router broadcasts the SSID and does not have WAP. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

snoslicer8-- thanks for your expertise-- after much trial and error, I finally got my wife's TX to hotsync over my wireless LAN-- now, I'd like to erase all the other ip numbers I mistakenly typed in trying to force the TX to see my computer.

Is there a way to purge the drop-down box of "other" computer names and addresses which are located just below the hotsync screen on the handheld itself?

Thanks for any insight.
