I have megalauncher on my one palm and zlauncher on the other that I just got. I am wondering if there is a way to get double rowed tabs in zlauncher like on my megalauncher, honestly it is not that fun scrolling through the tabs. There has got to be a better way. I really like zlauncher, seems like there is lots I can do with it, so I don't want to get rid of it yet.

Double row of category tabs? Not in present version. You can always e-mail zztechs and ask for it. What I did was drop the tab text, just use icons. I can get 10 tabs up there (maybe 11, not sure) if I manually hide captions on each tab.
Using the "auto hide tab caption" in display preferences and hide tab text on everything but the category showing I get eight (maybe nine, can't tell since the little scrollbar is in the way).
Also, I created a "hidden" category that doesn't show up for all icons of apps I have programmed to buttons etc.
Tho frankly, I've found I'm defaulting to no tabs and using the drop-down list these days. I've always liked tabs but there's something about the way Zlauncher handles the drop down list (maybe because it has icons and is bold and very easy to pick the right category) that I really like.
Not to mention, with the drop down list I don't have to remember what the icons stand for <G>.

OK< I just went through and manually hid all the captions (hadn't gotten around to that since the upgrade) and I'm pretty sure I could get 11 category tabs up there.
You have to manually set each tab to hide caption, and then UNCHECK the auto-hide tab caption to get rid of text on the active category.
FWIW

Actually, even in Tab mode, there is no need to scroll. Just tap the down arrow in the upper right corner and it give you a drop down list of all you non-hidden tabs.
My personal preference is Compact mode. Most implementations of tabs seem more trouble than they are worth. MegaLauncher does have the only implementation of tabs that I care for, but I have no problem with the drop down list option in ZLauncher. Compact mode substitute more system information and access to more gagets for the useless tabs.
Stylus free app selection is great in ZLauncher, as well. Just press the jog dial to cycle through categories (tabs). Back button also displays the drop down list of categories.

I agree that compact mode is the way to go. Tabs sometimes look cool, but I don't find them very efficient.

I loved MegaLauncher's tab setup in 3.2.2, but hate them in 4.1. I've really grown attached to ZLauncher's Compact mode. While it takes two taps to get somewhere, it takes covers far less (virtually none) of the background image. Especially with the small tool icons using transparency in ZLauncher, the Compact mode presents a very clean and professional appearance.
On the tab issue, when I use that mode, I set the tabs not to scroll. I use icons only on the tabs and can get 9 across the top. I think that it will take 10 without putting the arrows up, but I now have 11 so I get the arrows at 9.

I find it easier and faster to just use the "All" tab. Locating an app is just a matter of writing out the first character of the app's name in the Graffiti area. The only time I use other tabs is when I can't remember the app's name.
