Memos w/o leaving app you're in?

I know there are programs out there that allow you to make little "sticky note" type entries when you're in an app but don't want to exit just to jot down whatever it is you want to write down, but I don't know their names. Anyone use one of these?

daMemoPad will do this.  You'll need a DA Launcher of sometype to use it, McPhling works very well.

DAs, or Desk Accessorys are WONDERFUL.  They're apps that pop up over whatever current program you're in.

I'm sure you'll come up with a lot of info if you do a search on Desk Accessory in these forums.

Check this h-yama/da site (http://www001.upp.so-net.ne.jp/h-yama/da/index.htm) for daMemoPad under MemoPad. DA has small foot print and more stable than hack in general.

sebring, would you please tell me what the improvements are (sorry, can't read japanese)? I installed both v.0235 and v.024. They work the same as the v.0234. The v.024 is 1K larger. That is all I can see.

The things I like about daMemoPad are (1) the pop-up window can be adjusted to full size or half size, (2) the window can be dragged around the screen, (3) the window can be transparent when you tap and hold the stylus on the left corner of title bar, so you can see what's behind the pop-up window.

I think the .024 is OS5 compliant. To be honest, I don't know what version is on my Clie, since I haven't figured out how to tell. Can't find an "About" screen in it.

To see which version of daMemoPad you have on your Clie, you can use FileZ, select "PalmCard" option, put a check on daMemoPad, and tap on Details button. ;)

From what I can understand, the update includes:
- supports NX's
- only works for OS3.5 and up
- fixes some display issues when moving and resizing the window
- you can move the window to the very buttom of the screen
- something something about DALauncher 5.0b6 and FlexButton0.23b :p

Actually I only have a very limited knowledge of Japanese. :o I only know how to pronounce the word and I only know the meaning to a very few words.

I just piece together what I can get out of the Kanji (I read Chinese) and make educated guesses based on that. ;) My guessing has been improving since I got into DA's. :)

Thanks DanT, it shows ver 24, which I suppose means v.024. Thought I probably had the latest version.

trying out daMemopad ver 24 on my SJ30. When I launch it I get a crash it says unlock out of sync addresses reset too soon. May be a problem with FASTCPU running at 50. Anybody else have this?

I don't globally overclock the OS system. Besides it drains the battery too fast, it can create other problems such as MSImport or beaming disruptions. I just set certain apps that require overclock like apps that require reading large database or doing math (e.g., maps, dictionary, spreadsheet, etc.). MemoPad is fast enough at 33MHz. However you can always do the stylus swipe to tun on/off the FCPU.

I deleted Popup Note in favor of daMemopad. daMemopad ver 24 has more features than Popup Note, PN requires a $5 registration, and PN hasn't been updated in four years!. I love freeware!

Does anyone have any instructions for da Memopad? I don't know exactly what the "I" and "Q" (Quit) are for, nor how they differ in function.

i tried out damemopad (using DALauncher) ... works great,
EXCEPT that so far i can only get damemopad to come up
when i'm in the clie application launcher. the other places
i've tried (datebook, isilo, tealdoc) cause a system crash.
anyone else having this problem?

and daMemoPad v24

i haven't tried using a different da launcher, so i don't know
yet whether my problem is with daMemoPad or DALauncher.

I have the same problem as mentioned by cisco.I just recently started to use some hacks.The one other hack i am using is the font hack with the swiz font.I am also using da launcher for calcal,call lookup da,ezconv da,simple clock da and stopwatch.I would be interested in some help in using the memopad hack.David

using DALauncher v5.0b6 eliminated my crashes with
daMemoPad. (i had previously tried v5.0b5)

(this was on an nx70 ... so that means OS5 ... no system
patches)

Here is the message from DanT resgarding the "I" option:

"Right, you can drag up and down the full pop-up window slightly since it is a little bit smaller than 320x320.

The "I" is for pasting the memo in wherever you place the cursor previously on the app on the background. If you just tap the "I", the whole memo in the pop-up screen will be pasted onto the background app page. You can paste only part of the memo by highlighting the part before tapping "I".

If you have winzip, there is a plug-in that enables it to unzip lzh files. I don't remember where I got it. Just do a google search on the web. If I find the address, I'll post it here.

There are some freeware zip utilities that say they support this file format at this site. I haven't used any of them, so you are on your own.
