Greetings!

I posted this thread exactly one month ago:

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45174

Also, see my new "Memory Stick Tutorial" in the General forum:

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48392

It addresses the availability of the 2GB sticks, as well as tons-o-other memory stick issues. Enjoy! :)

Best wishes,
Bawko

Who will buy it for clie? I had regret for my 1GB MS Pro already! Lucky I used it for F828 sometime.

My 256MB MS Pro is faster than 1GB when using it in Clie easpecially in TH55 as TH55 is very slow in CO and Piscel Viewer.

Well... my Sony 717 camera (5 megapixel) fills up a 1Gb MS rather quickly. So, if I want to see a slide show in my Clie or even use it to beam the photo somewhere it is nice to know we have this storage capacity available.

wolwol,

:D

Yeah - I filled my 1GB about 20 min. after buying it - and most of that time was file transfer time!

Best wishes,
Bawko

Go for it!
I'd love to have a 2GB stick. I want to start converting movies/tv shows.

Too bad the TH55 only supports up to 1Gb MS. :( :(

Is it correct that the TH55 only supports up to 1GB memory sticks?

I know this because I did some research (and found this great, wonderful forum :D ) before buying it, I think it's somewhere in the manuals. But it's clearly stated in it's spec sheet, like this one:

cheers;)

Interesting ... it does say "tested to support Memory Sticks up to 1 GB" -- although the text doesn't specifically state that2GB are not supported. Perhaps the TH55's came out befor ethe 2GB sticks were developed

Anyhow ... buying two of the 1GB sticks is cheaper than buying one 2GB sticks. Besides, my plan is: I leave one of the 1GB sticks in the recorder at home while taking the other 1GB stick with me (which already has the recorded stuff in it!). Having two large sticks, I think, is better than having just one very large stick. Anyhow ... that's my overall technical scheme!

Thanks for the tip. 1GB it is for me!

Hmm, it does say that.

Page 162 of the PDF Handbook also states the capacity of the MS's that you can 'use' -- with the 1Gb as the maximum , so that pretty much backs it up that Sony's tested it for 1Gb MS's.

However, It might be the case with the 2Gb's nonexistent yet, during that time of testing, that's why it's not stated. If anyone is able to use a 2GB MS on the TH55, please do post that it's able to . :)

Well ... at this point, as I mentioned earlier, I'll stick with my 2-sticks plan. That way, my single large stick is not stuck in a video recorder the whole day.

I think the best way to test this out is to actually go to a store that has the 2GB on display and try it on a demo TH55 - a physical test. Or maybe, if they will respond quickly, email SONY about this question.

At any rate ... I don't see any reason why the 2GB will not work with the TH55 -- but I'd rather err on the side of caution than make a terribly costly mistake.

Do you have a video recorder? I love it so much, my other co-worker who also has a TH55/UK is asking me to order one for him. He has the 25% off coupon code so I'm using that -- and throwing in my own other accessories to take advantage of the 25% off. The shipping charge of SONY however .... BOY! What a money trap! They're charging like $5.50 for each item added -- even if it's just a single stylus!

Hehe, reminds me of needing a 512Mb RAM, and whether to just buy a single 512Mb stick or 2 256MB's. I went for the latter so that in case the RAM fails, my computer can still function.

Yeah , or you could bring your TH55 with you as people have reported it's selling like hotcake and out of stock in some stores.

Yeah ... got that too (video recorder) -- it rocks. On my earlier post ... I meant the VRK100 Memory Stick Video Recorder. It's a cool toy. Do you have that/use it?

Have you seen pictures of the PSP? Hmmm ... I wonder if all it does is play games. Might be worth saving for.

Anyhow ... I think I'll got for two 1GB mem sticks at jr.com.

Enjoy!

Aaargh!

The MemoryStick Pro interface should support up to 16GB according to the MS Pro specs, if the TH55 has a real MS-Pro slot it should therefor be able to use the 2GB sticks.

Yeah, saw that one on sonystyle. It's a cool toy, only I can't afford to buy yet another gadget :(

Yeah. saw it featured on the main page a few days ago. Dunno, I'm not much of a gamer, but I'd rather prefer the chixx at:

two sticks is could actually be a bit more logical

WHAT if you lost the 2GB stick?
at least if you have two 1GB sticks, if you loose one, it isn't tooo bad

I noticed that expansys is selling a 1 Gb memory stick at a very conveniente price (about 60% less than the Sony equivalent).

Has anyone had any experience with expansys memory sticks, I think they are SanDisk MS sold with the expansys brand.

Hell, the Sony 1 Gb MS cost twice as much as the TH-55.... geez..
