Ok, I love my NZ, it's been 8 days and it's great. I bought the Sony wifi card the same day, and have probably put 12 hours over the past week into trying to get things working. No luck whatsoever. Have started over many times, read all the threads on here, and I'm just out of ideas.
XP PC as main computer. Linkysys router/access point. Use wireless with my laptop from work with no problems. So I know my lan works with wireless.
NZ goes through "connecting" and gets "connected" but the light on the linksys doesn't show any wireless activity. Netfront shows the activity bars in the upper right corner, but eventually shows a network timeout error. What the heck?
I've read so much now, I'm overloaded. This was one of the major reasons I wanted this machine. Travel all the time and want to use hotspots at airports etc. in the future.
Please help a fellow early adopter.
Regards,
Gary

I am there with you. I gave up with my NX and sold it to a friend. I do not get how it is so difficult to set up at home and some say that they are connecting out in the world with no effort at all. Just use Any and auto and auto and turn off battery protection and they connect. I can not figure it out at all. So I got the NZ and will try with bluetooth... and may be wifi again if I have to ... I did suspect my NX was defective... The Sony site has info to offer as well.

Gary,
I'm equally as frustrated! I have an Airport Base Station Extreme and my NZ90 with the WL100 WiFi card. I have everything in basic mode. No WEP, etc... The NZ says "Connecting" then "Retrying" and never gets anywhere!? Pissing me off! Is it the WL100 Card? Or the Clié? Or the ABS Extreme? ARGGGHHHGG!
Anyone with success out there?
Thanks! :(

I've used with Sony WiFi card for months with my NX with no problem. When I upgraded to the NZ, I couldn't get it to work with DHCP-- I had to switch to static addressing.
If your access point or router has the ability to make static addresses available, try that.

I spent a couple days on this myself- XP Pro, DHCP infrastructure WAN, NZ90, Sony Wi-Fi card. After reading and re-reading the little manual that came with the card, I finally saw the part where it says to blank out the "Primary PC Name" under the "Primary PC Setup" (but leave the address and subnet).
That works for me. The problem is, after the sync the name gets filled back in again and I have to blank it for the next sync.
Another problem that I will have one day- the computer I sync to is on DHCP so will get a new address one day...

FWIW, I tried DHCP again this morning and everything works perfectly. Dunno what the problem was before. Of course, your access point must be configured to hand out DHCP addresses for this to work.

Great! But what about for us Apple Airport (Extreme) Guys?

Dunno about you Airport Extreme guys. I'm using the older non-Extreme Airport; I assume you have the Airport Admin Utility and can configure this stuff...if you have questions about my Airport setup, I'd be happy to help.

I have an NX70V and just got an NZ90. The wireless LAN card works fine with the NX70V but not with the NZ90. One of the flyers that came with the NZ90 says if the CD-ROM version of the Wireless LAN Utility is version 1.0, you should download the latest version from the CLIE handheld support page. But I can't find it anywhere. I am assuming it's still a little early and am hoping they will have a new version available soon. Does anyone know for sure? The fact that it's working fine on my NX70V and not on the NZ90 tells me I've got all the network setting correct.

"The fact that it's working fine on my NX70V and not on the NZ90 tells me I've got all the network setting correct."
It tells me that you may not have the same settings on your NZ-90 as you have on your NX-70. Carefully go through all the settings, even the advanced pages.

I recently upgraded from nx to nz. My wifi card worked well with nx both on home network and at "hot"spots in other areas. I transferred all my data including the drivers and settings from the old nx to the nz and from the first moment of install of the programs it has been working well. I gave my wife the nx with a new wifi card with the same software that was on the nz and original nx and we can both sync wirelessly and use the same avantgo channels. I am running five computers all xp home with a linksys modem, wireless adapters, booster and router. I also have an iPAC 3955 and Toshiba e740 that connect wirelessly with all the computers and sync to both a laptop and "server". The ability to go "wireless" has changed my life for the better and makes it so much easier to hotsync without the clutter. However I have found that for both CE and palm that I cannot wirelessly hotsync data successfully to the storage cards. The hotsync process stops just at that point. Has anyone developed a workaround to this? I found all the information I needed to begin to go "wireless" on these pages - not from the Sony or ce pages. Keep trying and "tweaking" the machines. Eventually they will connect. The nz has some quirks that make it a bit of a learning curve. The nx and nz are running on the same computers using the same name and the same data with no difficulty. However when I tried to add the 615 it was overkill and crashed the whole thing. The moral of my story is to stop when you are ahead. Does anyone know if instant messaging can be used on the clie machines. I have been having fun with the wireless IM on the ce devices. Good luck. Sam

Have any of you tried to ping something else on your network to determine if you have basic connectivity?
You have two options - download mergic ping from palmgear, or in your network settings, click on the log and you can actually use the PING command at the bottom of the log.

I've tripled checked my network settings, and then I even deleted the profile and keyed it all in again very carefully. I can do about 10% of wireless HotSync, after which it just hangs and loses the connection. As for Clie Mail and NetFront, it seems to connect with my network, but then hangs. Take the card out of the NZ90 and put it back in the NX70V, and everything is hunky dory.
Sorry, but this looks like a BUG to me.

OK, I got it working. Once I disabled Power Save Mode, everything was fine. I guess that's not a bug, just a "feature", huh? :-S

I have my nz and lan card set up and have had no problems.
My settings are:
under preferences: service= wireless lan
tap details..name the profile name anything you want
tap edit...leave network ID blank
SSID= linksys
WEP= none
connect mode..infastructure
tap advanced setup...
IP address check auto box
DNS address check auto box
DO NOT check the power save box
tap OK
Hope this works for you!

What exactly is the power saving "feature" supposed to do exactly? How would it go about saving power? By cutting down the range that you can use it?
I'm a total newbie when it comes to wireless communications. I can't get my WL100 card to connect to the University network despite following every direction I could find. Now that I'm home, I see people say to disable this power saving option, but I'm wondering what it does. So long as it works, I will be too happy to care but if anyone could shed light it would be appreciated.
