-Go to Preferences "General Window"
-next make an 3-4mm circle (Counter Clockwise) in the lower right corner above the silk, right above the CALC pad
-you should see the pinkish, striped, dotted easter egg
-next hold down the "DOWN BUTTON" simultaneously drawing a line from the "Number Graffiti Area" through the "Alpha Numeric Side" between the Home and Menu pads

I can get the egg but when I hold the down button then draw from right to left it doesn't seem to do anything. Is it acros only the number/letter area or should it start between the two right buttons and end at the two left buttons? I just can't get the taxi.

It was the only picture in the OS5 ROM, showing something, that clearly doesnt belong to the regular OS. (Just open The simulator image in PSP as RAW, 256 colors. Then load the Palm palette while maintaining indexes, try various widths (like 22, 44, 8, 16, 32, 64 ...) You know can see and edit any picture in the ROM, just be sure to make the picture bigger, then the actual ROM size, and cut off all those 0s in a hex editor when you're done). So, there might be other eastereggs as well, but nothing that good.

Interestingly enough, for the life of my I couldn't get the taxi to show up in clamshell mode. Once i put it in tablet mode while leaving enough room to press the down button though, poof, the taxi drove across the screen. Any ideas as to why this might be?
Anyone else notice this when they tried it?

Also, while in preferences (without the egg showing) If you press and hold DOWN while drawing a "#" (a dot and a backwards capital N), in the grafitti area, wait about ten seconds, you'll see whats supposed to be an inch worm crawl accross the screen

Are you people illiterate or not reading the directions fully. How hard is it to understand.

Unfortunately you don't mention if it is the down arrow on the keyboard (also labelled PgDn) or if it ist he down button between the application buttons above the keyboard. Thanks for clearing that up.

Oh and how do you make the inch worm go away?

It started at the top of my screen and did it's thing once, but now it keeps doing it's thing, slowly making it's way down the screen.

I tried repeat the sequence but no luck.

ANSWER:

The little guy will continue to inch across until you switch to a different screen. So... switch to a different screen.

almost one cm (maybe 1/3 inch for you imperialists!) on the numeric side of the grafitti area, between the home and calc buttons, draw a straight line ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN. Do NOT stop when you reach the edge of the grafitti area - draw right through the home icon.

Try this a few times, you will get it.

Last night the weirdest thing happened . . . I was making an entry in memo pad when all of a sudden the taxi goes zooming by! Don't ask me how. Have tried again to get the taxi, with no luck. On my SJ20 I get the egg to appear, then I can get a worm (it's an ugly zig-zag line with a circle for a head) but no luck with the Taxi. OPh well, I like the Easter Egg. I would guess the Taxi is a color thing...

BUT NOT ANYMORE!!

here's a pointer for everyone who's been having trouble with the taxi.

-Hold the DOWN button
-draw a line from the MIDDLE of the NUMERIC graffiti area (in middle, I mean in the middle of the box) all the way to the left of the ALPHA graffiti area.
-now here's the tricky part. WITHOUT lifting your pen, continue your STRAIGHT LINE all the way THROUGH the MENU ICON (the house icon). and THROUGH, I mean, in the middle of the icon all the way till it hits the left side of your Clie.
-that's IT!

I also think it would be helpful to let people know that the taxi doesn't show up immediately (that's what I thought for the longest time which made me think it wasn't working). The taxi just appears out of nowhere every now and then.

Hmmm...Maybe it works differently on different models? I have an SL-10 and tried repeatedly to get it to work when I first turned on the egg, but never could. So I just left the easter egg on and now I get the taxi in different apps out of the blue.

Using eternity's method I tried to do it and found out it didn't work. I got so frustrated that I just slashed the stylus across the screen, and IT WORKED! That is, a taxi instantly zoomed past the screen. Trying a few more times, I found out that the key was TO DRAW THE LINE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. And now it works every time. So remember, don't worry you can't make a straight line, just make it quick and the taxi will appear. Hope it helps.

And by the way, the line doesn't have to go through the middle of the house. Just make sure it goes all the way to the right and it will work.

Also if you turn off "Auto-off" in Prefs and wait some time (I think 3-5 mins with Easter Egg on doing nothing (don't tap or use any keys etc) the Egg will activate by itself.

I finally was able to get the taxi to appear.. BUT.. On my SJ22, the line that I drew was WAY down at the bottom of the graffit screen. My straight line that started in the numerical graffiti area ended up crossing over the arrow head of the of the menu button.

Trust me, I tried virtually every way based on the previous directions AND the picture with no luck on the taxi. Since discovering where *I* should be drawing the line, I've been able to get the taxi twice.

For those who are using the UX-50, forget the right-left stuff in the silk. Just bring up the easter egg, then, while holding the down arrow key on the keyboard, run the stylus from right to left on the screen.

I have my silk on the right, so I started in the silk and ran the stylus all the way to the left edge of the screen. Instant taxi...

Now where was I? OH! I was on the way to the kitchen to put out a grease fire... that's right!

Ive drawn a million circles on my UX-50 and I can't get any egg to come up I guess im not understanding exactly where to draw it...people were saying to start on the calc side and make it go through the house on the bottom but that is a huge circle

I got my taxi on the TH-55!!! At last I can rest!

The down button is the button on the back immediately to the right of the jog dial (while looking at the TH-55 screen)

draw the line ALL the way across the screen to the left from the top right corner of the numeric VG area.

The worm was the hardest. You have to make the # sign that's in the graffiti 2 not the . and backwards N.

I got the Taxi to appear on command by ignoring the numeric section of the silk altogether.

I started a little left of the divider and went left from there. Works everytime.

THe worm however I must have done right but can't tell which attempt made it work.

One thing I don't like is that when either of them cross my screen it leaves a trail of destruction so-to-speak. They distort whatever they crossed over. I had to task switch in order to restore (or type/carriage return over the affected area in memo).

Got the taxi on my UX.

After it drives across the screen, the "adjust brightness" window just pop up. Is this normal?

I figure it out myself.

It is normal in the sense that I have set the pen stroke across the screen to active the "adjust brightness". Since "calling the taxi out" need to do something similar to a pen stroke, so the "adjust brightness" comes out everytime afterwards.

I have tested by changing the pen stroke to toggle backlight. After the cap went through, the light just gone out.

MY taxi brings up my screen dimmer all the time. And I don't have and pen strokes set, at least not that I've done. Durn, can't have that...
