K, after reading all the different posts on battery life, mine just doesn't seem right and I think tomorrow I'll take the unit back for exchange.
I'm (per battery details) on 5th recharge and today is my second day from a deep recycle from 0% to 100% (7+ hours on charger). At 50% light I get over 5+ hours us usage time listed.
Today, since it has been at 100% battery life, its been on for maybe 15-20minutes total time. I'm down to 85%. Then I tried to take a bunch of pictures with flash(around 10). It dropped to 38% when doing so. Then once the battery caught up, its at 75%.
Normally on a 8 hour work day with 3-4 pictures, I would end up going home with about 40% battery life. And I'm not playing games or anything. Just using calc and such.
Does something sound wrong to you?

Oh and I can't even take more than one or two pictures with flash if I'm close to 50% battery. It'll tell me I don't have enough power. And if I pull up the battery window while in camera mode, it'll drop 1% evey 5-10seconds.

I believe this is a typical NZ90. Did you disable bluetooth communication? Perhaps try to switch the IR port off in the preferences? Set the brightness on medium to low?

thanks for replying
I've read other post where people (and one person) getting way over 50-60shots with flash and stilla round 75%. I hit 75% with just 10 shots and some usage.
IR is off, BT is off (normally its on, and when it is, the battery meter doesn't go down much faster)
Light is at 50%. I can't see it going much dimmer or whats the use of having a good screen thats dimly lit. Not to mention when I do power drain from below 20% battery, I turn on the backlight to 100% and battery lasts and lasts. heh.
update-
k, at 65%, I turned on the camera. Within about 10 seconds, I have a waring about flash not working due to battery. I checked the battery indicator and its down to 28%. And no picture taken yet. I quit out and in about a min it went up to 60% and stays there.

very very irritating to the user (from your experience). Hope sony can read this thread and do something about it .. else more people will be returning their nz units especially when the next clie is out with better features. (seems like quite a number of people has been doing that from nx70 to nz90)

I would return and exchange the unit! The battery failure you've descibed sounds very peculiar.

I hope they don't give me the run around. Compusa is sometimes pretty bad when it comes to Sony products.

You're still within the 14 day return period. Don't take any crap. Make them agree (someone higher than a peon) to another 14 days. "What if this happens again?" That should be no problem since they will make you return yours and then sell you another.

There has to be something wrong. You sure you didn't change any settings like light?
After deep sycling 3 times, light at 50% and IR off and bluetooth on, it says slightly more than 5 hours. With backlight on lowest setting, I have 7:27 hours, and with BT off I have 7:22
Ditch on another thread said he went from a few hours to 13 hours on a full charge.
Anyways, going to exchange later today.

Can't wait to hear if your replacement is better, Starsteak. My unit behaves the way your first one did-- not good.

Yes, that was pretty disappointing :(. One NZ benifit is that you know when they're lying about it never having been used, thanks to the battery applet.

How do you turn Bluetooth off? Isn't that used with the wireles. I do not use the wireless, so I don't think I need Bluetooth.

It's used for Bluetooth wireless (not the WiFi card add on). It's turned off by default from the factory. When it's on, you'll notice a blue flashing light. To turn it off and on, go to Prefs, and select Bluetooth.
