Hello All ,
I am faced with a decision to purchase a laptop for a single purpose, to show a presenation. ((Yes, I said presentation, not presentations.)) I am teaching a food safety class, and I will be showing the one presentation. Obviously a laptop for this one reason is a little bit of an overkill. Sooo

Has anybody actually used the Margi Presenter to Go? Would you share your opinions, comments, and concerns about the hardware/ software?

One question I have is, when the PowerPoint presentation is converted to the Margi format, how big/ small does it get? My presentation is 11 megs in PowerPoint format.

Thank you for your help.

(Yes, by the way, I do have loan of a projector during the class and possibly the use of a laptop.

It seems to get smaller. I think it depends on including graphics versus text in the presentation. I would have no way to know about you specific presentation. You could download the Margi software and try it before you buy it. I think it works with out the projection hardware.

Thank you. I checked their website and there is a reduction in size (1.4 meg to 900K approx). How does the hardware work in the translation? Is it a reliable way to do a presentation?

Thank you for your help.

There used to be places that would rent a laptop. You wouldn't want to do that very often, but it's gotta be cheaper than buying one ... and it eliminates any questions about Margi (which I like, BTW).

Thank you DonWells and sdsdsd!!!

One question for sdsdsd, what do you like about Margi?

After spending some quality time on their website, I have decided it is the way to go. I can justify spending the money on a projector (long term I have use for that) but not the $1500 on a laptop AND $1500 on a laptop. (not when my clie can do what I need a laptop to do.)

Thanks again for your help.

One, I like having an application on my Palm handheld which will let me look at PowerPoint presos; two, with the right hardware, you could actually _do_ the preso and not need a laptop. Of course, it's not as editable or full-featured as PowerPoint on a laptop, but I didn't want to imply that Margi had a bad product; for what it is, I like it fine.
