I would like to know what the top 5 hack's and the top 5 DA's are that every one is using. I just love these little apps, I think they are what makes Palm OS shine.
My Hacks would be:
1. PageDown Hack ( But of course)http://www.cliesource.com/sdownload/fileinfo.php?id=104
2. MilliKeys ( To be run with the MilliKeys app- VG replacement)http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=A9016BC5-BB19-4D3A-A5F11615864E9F74&prodID=44219
3. McPhling ( Quick launcher and app switcher)http://www.cliesource.com/sdownload/fileinfo.php?id=101
4. Fonthack123 (Font replacement )http://www.cliesource.com/sdownload/fileinfo.php?id=101
5. PopUp Names ( Fast find name and address with out leaveing the app your in)http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=A9016BC5-BB19-4D3A-A5F11615864E9F74&prodID=5011
DA's
1. CalCal ( pop up calculator)http://www.bea.hi-ho.ne.jp/kish/palm/palmware.html
2. Copy DA ( copy's select text)http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=34384
3. Paste DA ( paste's coppied text)http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=A9016BC5-BB19-4D3A-A5F11615864E9F74&prodID=34387
4. HRCapt DA ( full screen capture)http://muchy.com/review/hrcapt.html
5. DTMF DA ( phone dialer)http://www.freewarepalm.com/communication/dtmfda.shtml
Now what is your top 5?
Hacks: Clockpop, EasyLauch, McPhling, MiD, MSDictHack

Haven't gotten into DAs yet (but will as soon as I get some time to test them) but here are my Hacks. I used to have more but whittled them down over time.
1. TapPad. I'd be lost without this. I also don't need MiddleCapsHack because TapPad v 2 handles this. Also does copy/paste with a 10 entry clipboard, shows all special characters and international letters, upshifts, downshifts, and makes my lunch (just kidding about the last one).
2. FontHack123. So I can use Lubak's OS5 fonts.
3. PowerLaunch. Let's me assign an app to the power button so when my Clie is turned on it automatically goes to ZLauncher. But the power button still turns the Clie off. I think there are other hacks that do this but I bought this years ago and it still works.
4. McPhling. Mainly for the favourites list.
5. FindHack. A better Find.
6. EasyLaunch. Let's me assign many apps to each button.
7. Fix AN Find Hack. So selecting something in Find goes to Agendus rather than the built-in app. This doesn't seem to be needed any more, at least as of Agendus 6.
That's the list. 2 more than 5 but one I may drop.

1. TealLaunch - provides popup app list, launches DAs, remaps buttons & combos of buttons a zillion ways
2. MSDictHack - keystroke access to dictionary and return to program
3. Uninstall - had a chance for a hard reset, so I loaded this before reloading...it catches stuff that doesn't cleanly uninstall
4. ScreenShot - desktop converter saves to PNG (Fireworks) so easy to manipulate images
5. TealThck - Teal Toolbox with popup calc, prefs, notepad, editing tools, stopwatech
No DAs at the moment (had HRCapt but it caused problems)

I only use 3 hacks which I think are crucial:
1) Energy Dimmer (Dims Clie screen after a set period saving battery!)
2) Jog Daily (speeds scrolling, making the jog dial useful for scrolling down long lists eg. Addressbook)
3)MiddleCaps Hack

I don't use 5 hacks or da's (since I have an NX) but here are my equivalent apps/programs (in no necessary order):
1. Mcphling
2. HR Capt DA
3. Fonts4NX
4. Fitaly Virtual
LaStigmata, I thought Palm OS4.1 already has Copy and Paste DAs built-in by doing a "/" on the graffiti area. What make these DAs better than the OS version?
If I need to cut & paste or copy & paste more than one memo, I'll use LClipDA. It can do it up 10 different memos. Using EasyLaunch to launch LClipDA it saves me a couple of strokes. I just highlight the memo to be copied or cut, launch LClipDA, which will automatically copy or cut the highlighted memo, go to another app to paste the memo, launch LClipDA, tap the memo number from the list. Done.

These are my must-haves on T665c:
Fonthack
McPhling
Tealscript rescript hack
I only have two others:
Mi(colon)D dictionary
MessageEase KB
Haven't gotten into DAs yet
Only other system tweaks I have is BDicty on command line, keepsleep and beamoff.

Hacks:
1) TealLaunch
2)Teal MemBrain (has reduced the number of crashes on my machine)
3) TapPad
4)McPhling (pops up a list of apps when the camera button is pressed. I have the TealMaster profile set up so when I am in the Camera app the capture button captures a picture instead of popping up the McPhling list. Slick.)
Da's
1)daMemoPad
2)TealCalc
3)TealPrefs
4)SHChanger DA (changes Show/Hide status)
5)TealPrefs

Dan, part of the reason for starting this thread is to find things like you have brought to the table. I use Copy DA and Paste DA with PowerJog this lets me copy and paste without using the stylus. But I will be trying LClip DA, Thanks.

the regular cut and paste doesnt work in some apps ... that's why I bought the copyDA and pasteDA when they were shareware.

Here are some hacks that I just cannot live without:
-Switchhack: An excellent program switching utility, but I will have to checking out McPhling after seeing so many who use that.
- EVEdit Hack: This one just does so many things - Adds a lot of text editing functionality to memopad, echos graffiti strokes on screen, gives you a multi-clipboard, ability to undo multiple actions, drag and drop capability for text.... and it is FREE
- ClockPop - Ever since I saw the Palm line of PDA's that had the functionality of pressing the "up" button to view the time, I have wanted that for my Clie 710C, and ClockPop gives me that functionality.

LaStigmata,
I downloaded and installed DTMF DA, but it seems to behave erratically. Some times when I launch it, it displays my phone directory so I can select the person I want to call (which is very handy) other times it just displays the dialing screen, which isn't very useful. I haven't been able to find any settings to define my prefered behavior. How does it work on your device? Recently I only get the dialing screen.
I was hoping to use this app to reduce my risk of accidents, while I drive down the road eating my hamburger, drinking my coffee, smoking my cigarette, reading my GPS display and changing CDs. Not having to push the buttons on my cellphone would really free me up to do something else.:D

There are two other alternatives to this trick. One is to install CradleSnd (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=21E1B780-E930-4B89-AA697719BEB20BC1&prodID=29316) with HotSync is enabled upon connecting the HotSync travel adapter.
Two is to set a finger swiping to launch HotSync using EasyLaunch (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=21E1B780-E930-4B89-AA697719BEB20BC1&prodID=8774).
I use the latter, by finger swiping from App button to screen (a command that is easy to remember). So I just plug in the adapter to Clie, USB end to Laptop, turn on the Clie, finger swipe, tap the HotSync button, and Clie HotSyncing away. No scrambling for stylus.
I do use CradleSnd also, but for somethingelse. It is a good app for keeping the Clie to stay on while connected to the adapter. To do this I set it to launch AlwaysOn (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=21E1B780-E930-4B89-AA697719BEB20BC1&prodID=1499) upon connecting the adapter. As soon as the adapter is connected to the Clie, it beeps and launch AlwaysOn with Always On highlighted. You just tap OK twice and the Clie will stay on while it is connected to the adapter. As soon as you disconnect it, the AlwaysOn defaults back to the "Auto-off After" 2 minutes.
Both apps are freewares and have very small footprints (CradleSnd=11K and AlwaysOn= 4K) so give them a try.
I agree with keeping the Wassup launch buttons with something more useful. I put WorldMate, NotePad, Yaps, MSImport, and WA Clock in Wassup launcher.
My hacks: FindHack, McPhling, ClearHack (clears out the lines)
What is a "DA"?
QuickSyncDA - For synching with the cable I have at home, which has no HotSync button
Where can I find this? I also have a travel cable with no HotSync Button.
Thx.
If no link is given. It's pretty good chance to be in PalmGear. I checked it and it is there. Here is the link QuickSyncDA (http://palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=240DC91A-D327-47C0-BE83C4ACF48E2C1E&prodID=3002).
DA stands for Desk Accessory, a Palm OS version of multi-tasking (opening a window while you are in an app). Here is a better explanation of "DA"? (http://odin.prohosting.com/fujima/da.shtml)
You'll need a DALauncher to run DAs. Just do a search on this site for DA or check Launchplug or nXtClieClub. Have fun learning and searching.

In EasyLaunch, rather than program the Hotsync app in the "Apps/DAs" checkbox, use the "Other" checkbox and select "Hotsync Cradle". Saves you a tap on the Hotsync icon. I'm using this setting with "Datebook, Hold Long", so I plug in the cable, press and hold Datebook and syncing starts automatically. (and you don't even need to turn on the Clie first)

Cool! Thanks for pointing that out. Easylaunch is just looking more powerful as I understand more and more how to use it. Any other tips you want to share on EasyLaunch?
One thing about the Hold and Hold Long buttons, they are quite tricky on how long I should hold or hold long. I can get easily mixed up between the two button press mode. At one time I put a check on "Click Sound on: Key Hold", then I could tell the difference between Hold and Hold Long by countig the number of beeps. When I pressed and held a button then release after I heard a beep then it was a Hold. When I pressed long enough until I heard two beeps and released the button then it was a Hold Long. This was fine in the quiet surrounding. It didn't help me in the noisy area. Finally I end up using both Hold and Hold Long for launching the same app. For example I use Address key Hold and Hold Long for launching Call Lookup DA.
I downloaded the DA Launcher and QuickSync. It was a start in the right direction. But it still left me having to select the sync.
I like the Easylaunch "press hold" option even better.
In all the time that I've been using a Palm OS device (this is my third), I've never heard of a DA.
Learn something everyday!
If you're into listening to MP3 or would like to make screenshot of your Clie, check out two other "must have DAs", AudioControlDA and HRCaptDA. Spradlind has written a real neat tutorial of them in LaunchPlug.com (http://launchplug.com/AudioControlDA.html)

CradleSnd can also be used to launch HotSync when the device is inserted in the cradle. I use CradleSnd to launch Big Clock for a desktop clock/calendar.

That's funny because I used to do the same thing... programming the same app for Hold and Hold Long. I think if you use Easylaunch enough, you'll learn the timing for Hold and Hold Long pretty quickly. I've got "Click Sound on" (and that helps) but on the anemic speaker of the SJ30, I don't always hear the clicks, and I'm still 95% accurate. You only need to learn the timing for "Hold", because "Hold Long" can be really long and it still works.
One "trick" is when you are in the "Settings" screen you can push buttons and swipe the stylus and EasyLaunch will hi-lite that action and show the setting. You can use this to get the feel of button timing. (one caveat in this mode, some other hack strokes may preempt Easylaunch if they are active)
That's a good trick. I'll practice the "Hold" now. Thanks again.

Don't know if anyone reads this thread anymore, but i'll add my favorite hacks:
lookda is a great hack that pops up a list of words based on your input...uh, this explanation really doesn't do it justice. Here is the link

also, along with this hack, the author includes some other little hacks(da's?)
to scrap
and
from scrap
the first lets you copy up to five clips to a "scrap" board, the other lets you paste from the "scrap".
Didn't see these mentioned so I thought i'd throw them out there.

Thanks for mentioning ToDo.
Being able to add a quick ToDo over the System Lockout screen is really cool. It works fine with A5 too. It would be useful when I'm in a rush, no time to enter password first just for adding a quick reminder.
VolumeDA does the same thing. I can just turn on the Clie and do a quick grafitti swipe to launch Volume DA over the System Lockout screen, tap the silent button make the Clie to be quiet for 2 hours as I walk into the meeting room.
