I have a 760 and I love it, but the only thing I HATE about it is the inability to play low sample rate mp3 files. Has anyone else had this problem?

You wonder, why do I want to listen to low quality stuff? Well, I like to listen to audio books, and I can listen to longer ones with low sample rates, since it is just a oice speaking I do not mind the darth vader distortion.

Does anyone know if there is a 3rd party player that will do this? Or is it the hardware? I doubt it is the hardware as hardware based decoders usually don't care about the samle rate, yet software players often do.

Let me know if you have any good ideas.

The n-610 with audio adapter will play lower rates, I think that the newer ones prevent it for copy right reasons

The audioplayer on the 770 (European 760 equivalent) will play rates as low as 32kbps as long as they are at 44.1khz, I've just tested one and it plays ok, sounds terrible though! You need to use a ripper such as Lame that allows you to set rate and frequency independently, most rippers drop to 22.1 below 96kbps and hence the Clie won't play them

Also if you have Nero burning ROM software, they have a plug in for Nero that allows you to convert MP3's to whatever bit rate and frequency you want.

It works very well, I use it to convert all my MP3 for my N760C.

cheers
