<SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 8pt; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">After downloading Cliepet's (http://www.aibohack.com/clie/modclieaud.htm) amazing sound AVIs from Cliesource and then browsing PalmGear for AeroPlayer and Pocket Tunes, I began to wonder- <I>is the NX60 everything I need in</I> a PDA?

As I began to consider what else I would actually want in a PDA, the unthinkable occurred - my dog stumbled into the table upon which my NX sat, sending it falling about 2.5 ft and then sent skidding 7 feet across the hardwood floor.

It cracked. The crack extends across the barrel of the flip-top housing from the power button to the right edge of the metal housing. It's definitely a crack and not just a scratch. Oh, and the crack is growing!

Pros: I can still use Graffiti 1, have access to loads of relatively cheap memory alá CF, Wifi, virtual graffiti, decent battery life and a great screen.

Cons: not much internal RAM (16MB [11MB available]), but since my last PDA was a Palm m505 (preceded by a VIIx and a IIIe), I've learned to maximize memory card storage and manage RAM pretty effectively.

The thumb-board is not a factor. I have rarely ever used it (big hands). The clamshell design really functions as a metal screen protector).

Current set-up is as follows: NX60,128MB MS, 512MB CF, WLAN110, KB100 Keyboard and a Jump Drive. I won't bother listing apps and utilities.

Usage: heavy usage of Agendus Pro 7.0, Docs to Go, Plucker, BankBook and Audio Player. Frequent email syncs and updates of AvantGo and Worldmate via Wifi.

Admitting that I'll now have to replace my NX60 long before I planned on doing so, I now have to ask - replace it with what?

Luckily, I saved all of the accessories from my m505 including a travel charger, sync cable, 128mb SD (currently in the Jump Drive) and a Stowaway XT keyboard. So, I can choose either Sony or Palm.

Considering pros and cons (ah, and $$$), I think the best value for my money is probably buying a T|2 and a large (512 or 1GB) SD card. I only paid $250 for my NX60 in June 2003 and don't really want to spend much more than that. With a T|2, I'd have twice as much internal RAM, Bluetooth and a smaller device. I'd forgo wifi and a 320x480 resolution, but all of my crucial apps would function just as before.

I considered the T|3 and TH55, but both are out of my price range. (And given that SDs have greater capacity at a lower cost than MS, I think I've seen my last Clié).

My 128 MS can move into the Jump Drive and the CF into my camera; and I would presume to sell the wlan card and KB100 - so no loss there.

I’d appreciate any user thoughts or opinions. Are there any other PDAs out there that I haven't considered?

THANKS!

Get an NX80. If you look around you can find them for about $300 and it is truly the most bang you'll get for your buck.

hmm..
you said that you would move the 512MB into your camera
and wouldn't mind a 320x320 screen

i'd say get a TJ37
it has all standard palm APi's (which means good support), built in WiFi, 32MB ram ( i think it 23 usable ram, the rest for heap memory, ) i don't think jackflash is compatible with the TJ37..yet

it has a small camera for spontaneous shots, and a really nice 320x320 screen with decuma recognition too (if you don't like grafitti)

and memory stick isn't that much more expesnive than SD..
if you go for lexar or sandisk, they will be cheaper

and if you look on ebay, you can find a TJ37 for 250, but not buy it now, just auctions

you could also go for an Nx70 or another Nx60, but i'm sure you are tired of those models
nx80 is also a good deal, and you get to keep your WiFi and CF card
