Has anyone figured out if there is a way to program in html on the handheld and then view it in netfront? You can make html pages in doc to go but it saves them as .doc files instead of .html. You have to put it on your desktop convert them to html and then transfer it back to your handheld. Is there anyone i can save documents i make directly to html? Also can netfront be viewed in widescreen?

Nope. NetFront is not for landscape browsing. If you have the Microsoft Word, you can save any .doc files as .html. Also, you can open that .html using IE and save it as Web Archive, single file as .mht which you can then move to MS under /Programs/MSweb/ folder. :p

i asked the same question 15 different ways and everyone who answered wanted me to use programs that convert to doc format.
the closest program that *worked* the way i wanted it was torpedo from palmgear.

reggae, these are the steps to do it all on the palm.
1. Create a doc version of the HTML with a doc editor of your choice with the name ending in '.htm'.
2. Use CF2DOC (freeware in palmgear) to convert the doc in RAM to a a text file (same as .htm) in a MS folder of your choice or in palm/Programs/MSweb/.
3. If you put it in the default MSWeb folder, then using Netfront to view 'Saved Files' will allow you to see the converted doc as a HTML file (I think you need the .htm at the end of the name for NF to recognize the file as a HTML file).
4. If you put it in the folder of your choice, then you will have to write in the path to your file in NF - ie. file://../../../folder/file.htm.
I hope this makes sense to you. Try it out. It is the only solution I have at present.
Actually, the only difference between an uncompressed doc file and a text file is that the doc file has some palm headers to identify it as a palm file. The HTML can still be viewed if the uncompressed doc file is put onto MS and navigated to in NF, albeit with gibberish at the start of the file (the palm header information).
The closest program that allows no conversion would be MiniWrite of the MiniOffice suite. This program allows you to navigate the MS to a doc file of your choice or to save to a navigated folder on the MS. All it needs is the ability to save as text file (ie without the palm header information) and to read files as text files (ie those without palm header information). It can then function as a HTML editor off the MS.
I wonder if anyone is even remotely interested in this functionality besides me, as I have often repeated this information and asked for more people to request the MiniOffice developers to make a minor alteration in their MiniWrite software to allow this functionality. I would also be interested to know if anyone else has a better way of achieving HTML editing and viewing all on the palm (ie without having the need of a PC).

no... just allows you to ftp your saved ascii files to wherever you need them...
as crazy as it seems, there doesnt seem to be a simple text editor capable of saving to anywhere within the VFS... this seems like the lamest thing i've learned about the palmos since coming over to it.

try CRS memo.
converts memo files to text (.txt) and stores them on the stick in /PALM/Programs/Memo.
but it wont categorise them.

Don't want to be picky but that should read '... if there is a way to display text using html'.... not program. I have to put up with people at work all day who write HTML and think they're programmers
Not that it stresses me at all :D

There actually is a text editor for Palm. It's just not well known. Search www.freewarepalm.com for VFSi. You just have to rename the .html file to .txt. Then you can edit and save them as .txt files and rename then back.
BTW, the app isn't just a text editor. You can also view images and stuff with it, and it's free. I like using AcidImage better, and just use VFSi as a text editor though.

Find the folder netFront uses to store "saved html pages" and put your HTML file in there. Open NetFront and tell it to view 'saved' web pages. no doc conversion needed.

Yes, I am also interested. I am glad I have stumbled on to this thread! I get my NX80v next week, and this issue has been on my mind.
I'll be checking out the advice here... thx to all.
