I played with the TH briefly and found that decuma did not work. How does everyone else find the text entry.
thanks

I love Decuma, it took me a month or so to get really good at it, but now I find it faster and easier than anything other than a full sized keyboard.
Like most everything, it takes practice.
I'm too "Old School". I tried Decuma for a short time, then tried Graffitti2 for a painfully long time, then converted back to Graffitti1. But I had used G1 for over 3 years before getting the TH-55, so I was not only very proficient with it, but I would fall back to the same strokes if I was in a hurry. If you're new to PDA's, then G1 may not be that much better than G2.

I've just upgraded from a TG50.
Decuma is my preferred input, I'm getting better all the time and I find it more accurate than Graffiti.
TG keyboard was great but extra screen space on TH55 is *super*.
I tend to write lots of "free notes" as reminder in the Date book rather than To-do's, which are always a pain.
If I was writing a blog or similar I think I'd buy a keyboard.

Do you have to train it to recognize your hand writing because I used it for a day and it had a real hard time reading my hand (printing not cursive) writing.
Is there a training mode to teach it how you write because I didn't see one anywhere on the TH55??
I want to use it but I can't afford mistakes on my notes and e-mails.
Please fill me in with any suggestions.

I'm with you I've been used to what my T615C had with "G1" and just can't get used to "G2". Decuma looks a bit more promising but I was so happy with the style of "G1".
Anyway, my question would be how can one convert like you are saying back to "G1" on their TH-55???
thanks in advance....

I actually traded my NX70V with a built in keyboard for the TH55 because I had no need for the keyboard. I can write in graffiti faster than I can press the buttons with two thumbs and try to find the symbols.
I find Decuma to be slow, since you have to look down at where you are writing, and also up at where the text is going to go. I copied Graffiti 1 from my NX70V over and I enjoy that much more.
I enjoy Decuma, because it reads your words based on how you actually write them, as opposed to you having to write your letters a certain way as in Graffiti.
I agree with the point about having to look down more often than not, however I only use Decuma for entering small amounts of text as I do most of my typing on a Palm Wireless Keyboard.

Hello, I may be in the market for a wireless keyboard for my TH-55. Is the one that you have fully functional with the TH-55 and is it foldable? One more thing where did you get it from?
thanks...

I've been using Graphiti for at least that long, I think it's probably more a personal writing style versus how long you've been using PDAs.
;)
At any rate, everyone should at least try all three (G1, G2, and Decuma) and see which one fits them best, you might be surprised.
I still miss the shortcuts from Graphiti and wish there was a way to bring them into Decuma.

There's actually a Decma application if you go to the launcher, which will allow you to show Decuma how you write all your letters as well as create up to 10 shorthand commands as well. I spent the afternoon one day telling it how to read all my characters, but I still have to correct things once in a while. Mostly because I'm lazy and don't pick the stylus up high enough between characters. :p

Here are a couple of websites that describe the procedure to put Graffiti 1 in place of Graffiti 2:
http://palmgear.mykbpro.com/Article_89D78.aspx
http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=5830
You must follow the directions carefully in order for it to work because there is a trick they use to modify ROM files, by copying files from a memory stick (instead of hotsyncing it in).
Also there is conflicting info out there about how to restore G2. Somewhere on CS, there is mention of a simpler way to do that.
Best of Luck!
