How can I play them on my PC ? (convert them to mpegs or avi)

You can play the files using Quicktime with no conversion. To convert the files to other formats, Quicktime Pro can do it. I believe there are some other apps that can also do the conversion, but I only know of QT Pro.

remember, qt pro will encode in mpeg4 not mpeg 1 or 2.

QT Pro will encode into AVI -> which can then be encoded into whatever.

However, the MQV format is highly compressed and the quality is really not worth the hassle to convert to something else on the desktop side.
