As some people know, i am looking to get an NX60 (maybe 70, but I dont know) and I have a few questions.

First of all i would like to thank all of you for your previous help on telling me about the clie notes application! It is a great program but I have a few questions on it.

Let me list them, and please answer them to the best of your ability-

1. Can you save Clie Notes file to your Memory stick? So what I am asking, if I have more than 11 MB of Clie notes (in different files within the Clie notes app ofcourse) could I still use them, could I save them to memory stick?

2. Can you print Clie Notes? I am used to being able to pring NOte files on Pocket PC, but can you print Clie notes files?

3. How is the battery life on the NX60? Under usage of a few games, no MP3's, and note taking?

4. If you are able to do my number 2 question will it print a 4 page Clie notes file in 4 pages on the printer, or will it just put space in between them. If you filled up two pages on a file would it print in 2 seperate 8 1/2 x 11 pieces of paper even though it would be small, or would it just seperate it?

5. Could I transfer my outlook contacts on my Pocket PC to the NX smoothly? How?

OK-
I know these are a lot of questions, but if you could answer them I would be ecstatic and would participate on this forum a lot more!

Thanx in advance to all the kind people who will hopefully respond to this thread.

I have been impressed with the battery life on my NX70V. Even when I use the camera, I still stay above 98% most of the day. I keep it in the cradle a lot at home, and I don't get to use it hours on end at school. If you can charge everynight though, you will have no problems with battery life.

Thanx a lot for replying. FInally someone. Do you have any idea about the other questions too?

The reason I asked about battery life is my E740 drives me crazy with the battery life

thanx for all your help.

my questions are in the first two original messages, and I thank you for helping me

Badandy - I can's answer any of the other questions, but in relations to Q5, I presume you have Outlook set up on your PC as well which has the same contacts as the ones in your Pocket PC ?

In this case, you need to use a third-party conduit such as Puma Technology's Intellisync or Pocket Mirror to sync your Palm to your Outlook and the contacts will be transferred over.

Alternatively, you can export your contacts from Outlook into a comma separated file (CSV) and import these into your Palm Desktop and you can easily sync your Palm Desktop into the Clie.

cheers,

Most of what you would want to do will require third party add on software. No printing is available from the Clie without additional software.

Battery life was superior to an HP PPC that I had awhile back.

If you have all your stuff in Outlook, when you install the Palm Desktop software, it'll give you the option of syncing from Outlook to transfer your files to the Clie. The install gives you a choice to HotSync to either Outlook or the Palm Desktop. Always backup your files first and make sure it's set initially for desktop to override the handheld.

Intellisync Lite comes with th Sony for Syncing to Outlook.

All notes in Outlook should be retained, on the Clie it's called memo's.

Thanx a lot. WIthout additional software i get. But will additional software even let you print clie note files? any 3rd party thing is fine, as long as it lets you print the files. thanx

My suggestion would be not to charge your PDA everyday. Charge it only when it's really necessary.

My experience is that the battery life would significantly redueced if the charge-discharge cycle is very frequent.

With the Lithium-ion batteries that are in the Clie handhelds it is best to keep the battery topped off as much as possible. Letting the unit get low before you recharge it will actually hurt the battery in the long run. I keep my NX in the cradle whenever I'm at home.

ok. thanx for the info. OcellNuri-Is it possible to print Clie notes app as said in my first post?

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand what you are asking.

There are two apps that I think you may be talking about one of them. Clie Memo and Memo Pad. Clie Memo is an application that lets you draw notes on the screen. You have different pen sizes, different colors, and different pages. You can draw pages of notes. You cannot print these (that I know of) and they are not syncronized to the desktop.

Memo Pad is an application that is included in every PalmOS handheld. It keeps text notes and lets you categorize them. You cannot draw, the notes are only text. This app is synced to your desktop computer when you hotsync. If you are syncing with Outlook your memo's from the Palm Memo Pad should be saved into Outlook somehow. I do not use Outlook though so I am not sure where they would be synced to.

Because this information is synced with your desktop, it is possible to print all of it from Outlook. If you make a memo in Memo Pad on your Clie, you can sync and then print the memo from Outlook on your desktop. The Clie does not have printing ability built in.

There are third party applications, such as PrintBoy, that will let you pring from your Clie to an IR Printer. PrintBoy will let you print just about anything from your Clie, including contacts, appointments, todo lists, and memos.

Did that answer any of your questions?

It will help me clarify. I am sorry, i am talking about Clie MEMO, i just thought it was callede Clie notes. So you cant print from that? I dont care if I have to sync it to my comp. but is there any way to get the Clie memo files onto a piece of paper?

Thankyou for all your help and I really appreciate it.

Is there a place that you know of that I can sell my Toshiba E740. i have found a deal of the century on the NX60
i believe it is 430 out the door (tax shipping everything) and I think that is pretty good

does the clie come with some kind of case?

I concur and agree with OcellNuri! If we were talking Ni-Cads it would be a different story. Lithiums has integrated electronics to keep the battery safe!

BTW, you can store Clie Memos to the memory stick, although it's all in one data file.

There is a classified section on ClieSource's Home page, there is always eBay. I very seldom sell anything, I usually end up giving things away, if I don't keep it. If and when I do sell, it's usually to someone I know close by.

You tap on a pull down menu and then tap on 'Move to MS'

Badandy

COol. maybe from there I can find out if I can explore on my computer and somehow print it. thanx a lot!

do you know about how much space a 20 page Clie memo file is with writing in it?

if you dont, fine with me.

thanx for all your help

Cool. I had never seen that. I don't use Clie Memo much at all personally.

The only thing about that, from what I can tell, when your notes are on the MS you cannot edit them or view them with Clie Memo. You can only view them with Clie Viewer. Oh... well look here... Clie Viewer has a "Print..." option. Anyone know how to use this?

OcellNuri

Well.. I can't get Clie Viewer to see the Clie Memo files. There IS a print option in Clie Viewer though. I'll keep playing with it.

From what I can see, the Print function just tags the photos for DPOF. That is the standard tag for photo files when you insert the memory stick into compatible printers. The same thing can be done from digital cameras.
