View Full Version : telnet?

I've tried in vain to find a telnet tty client that works flawlessly on the UX50, and allows making connections to arbitrary ports. I don't want it for telnet login connections, but to communicate with any remote text-based services for troubleshooting purposes.
So far I haven't found a single app that works.

Most of the programs out there (like pTelnet) only work with old OS versions, and others (like Mocha Telnet) don't support CLIEs. What's left are programs that do silly stuff like clearing the screen or hiding it behind a requester on disconnect.

Are anyone using a telnet app on an UX40/50, and thus can recommend a telnet app that works?
The ability to switch between line based and character based send mode would be a plus. Wide screen support would be an even bigger plus. Having to create profiles is a big minus. But anything goes, as long as it works.

Dont know about telnet but if you can use ssh instead check out TUSSH or my new current favorite pssh. Both work great, and pssh lets you assign the jog dial button as CTRL which comes in really handy.

I anticipated this kind of response if I just said telnet, which is why I took care to specify "I don't want it for telnet login connections, but to communicate with any remote text-based services for troubleshooting purposes."

SSH is good for what what it does, but in this case it's about as useful as PocketTunes, i.e. not very.

Ah. I avoided trying that one, because it was listed as working on Pa1m0ne devices only -- no CLIEs or other devices on the compatibility list. I'll give it a try then!
