I am considering buying a SnapnType IR wireless keyboard for $92 from www.mobilelinktech.com. Does anyone have any opinions on this type of keyboard versus the direct connect style from Sony. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about the brand you have but I use an IR keyboard on my T650.

The keyboard itself is not as big as the one from Sony or from Palm. It folds only in two (the others fold accordion-style with 4 folds). That's why they had to make it a bit smaller. But its manageable.

Regarding performance, there isn't much difference between the infra-red link as opposed to the direct link.

For the budget-conscious, it's a good alternative.

stay cool.

To Ayamd1:

I have a Clie T665C. Before that I had a Visor PRISM with the Stowaway Keyboard. The IR is still Qwerty so I'm hoping typing will be about the same. I am just trying to decide which one would be MORE beneficial and less hassle. Cost isn't really an object. How far away can the unit be from the keyboard before it doesn't work, 2", 3" etc. Thanks for any advice.

IR keyboards are just annoying. Especially lining up the IR and then losing the connection. I bought an IR keyboard then went running back into the arms of Stowaway.

I agree - I had a PocketTop for my T615....buggy POS, kept locking my Clie up and a reset was all that would bring it back - bye bye what ever you were typing. Good theory but I havent personally used one that was worth anything. I have a KB11 and love it (Stowaway branded by Sony).

It doesn't work like bluetooth remote. The keyboard has a stand where you place your unit (located in the top middle portion of the keyboard), and it has a sensor on the top part of the stand. The package also contains clips and fasteners to keep your unit stable on the stand.

stay cool.

It looks to me like that Snap'nType is the same keyboard as the Pocketop.  Please see my review at: http://www.cdpug.net/reviews/pocketop.htm

Stay away.
