I"m using a TH-55 with Launcher X. Is there any compatible freeware program that will pop up a list of recently used apps from a pen stroke?
thanks!

There is a version of McPhling that works on OS5. Otherwise, you need to switch to a real launcher...zlauncher.

Mcphling works flawlessly for me too....(and its free..i did register it though...and paid the $10.00)
I use McPhling5, Zlauncher 4.01, and DAlauncher5 on my TH55. They work great. The "/" pen stroke works for McPhling and DAlauncher5. So if you are into DAs, you can take some of the load off McPhling and Zlauncher's QuickLaunch (ZQL).
One trick I use on the TH55 is to assign Capture button to launch ZQL. Now many important apps, not just the ones assigned to the hard buttons, I can launch from off state by pressing the capture button to popup ZQL list over the System Lockout screen and scroll down to the app with jogdial and press the jogdial to launch the app, all with the one hand that is holding the TH55.
Some DAs do not require you to enter the password when you first turn the Clie on. For example acBacklight, VolumeDA, ToDoDA, CalCal, and StopWatch can be launched and operated on top the System Lockout screen. Rather than going through the routine of turning on the Clie and entering password before you can use it, just popup the DA on top of the System Lockout screen. They are pretty handy to have when you are in a hurry to enter a ToDo list or want to do a quick calculation on the go.

I also use McPhling5, DALauncher 5.1, and ZLauncher. They make a great combination. I use the voice recorder button for ZL's QuickLaunch, the left and right on the 5-way navigator for McPhling, and the command stroke for DALauncher. Works great!

I use Switch5 with my TH-55. Its freeware and available from either palmgear or freewarepalm. Of course, I'm kinda bias since I'm the developer of this app.. but let me know what features you would like to make it work better for you.

Thanks for your kind words. I don't think that your screen name does you justice, though. You obviously show good taste... :)

What do you gain by adding McPhling if you already use ZL and DALauncher? Seems redundant.
Thanks.
14 more popoup apps/DAs selection and previous app button. Actually ZL QLA, DALauncher, and McPhling are not enough for me. I just added TealLaunch.

Am I the only one that seems to have constant problems with McPhling?
1) It conflicts with Okey Jog, and Sticky Key options.
2) All the swipe settings for launching McPhling cause a freeze or crash every other time I access the menu of NetFront.
3) I get frequent hotsync hangs whenever McPhling is on my device.
4) At one point, Uninstall Manager and McPhling would cause my NX80 to crash, even when they were the only two third-party apps on my Clie.
When I delete McPhling from my Clie, all these problems go away. :(

Odd . . . have you tried contacting McPhling's developer? Or maybe using something other than that? What launcher are you using? ZLauncher has a 'favorites' that's VERY similar in operation . . .

Like some others above, I use multiple "launchers" so I can quickly get at a large # of apps. I group the apps so that McPhling launches one set of apps, QuickLaunch another set, etc.

I use Hi-Launcher, it is not free but you can download a demo and see if you like it.... I love it is like Windows start menu, I mapped it to the Silk-Plugin button you can launch programs, das, recently used apps, toggle backlight, brightness, bluetooth, etc..

Hmmm. I use McPhling on my T3 with a ton of other stuff, including Uninstall Manager. No problems. Might be an NX80 thing, but I haven't heard any other complaints. I guess that you've tried playing with McPhling's options to see if there's a particular setting causing the problem.

About the only thing I haven't tried is to hard reset and re-install everything one at a time. I guess that's next. :( I have had numerous hard resets, from the above mentioned issues and selectively restored apps and DBs that shouldn't cause problems and reinstalled other apps from scratch. Right now things are running smoothly, as long as I keep McPhing off my Clie. Thanks for the replies. Right now, I really miss my NR. Gosh it was stable.
Yellowrose,
I've contacted Mike and he didn't have any answers and I also use ZLauncher. I could get by with ZL Quicklaunch, but I'd miss the "Back" feature of McPhling and when I launch DAMemopad with ZLauncher, it crashes my Clie. Other DAs work fine, and DAMemopad also works fine when launched with any other DA launcher. Sounds like I have a really screwed up Clie doesn't it. :(

I know this sounds silly, but have you tried just clearing the McPhling cache? Deleting its data file? This really sounds like a corrupt database.

I too use a lot of launchers (zLauncher, mcphling, Crystal Popup suite). One of the simplest and best I have used is 5 Nav Launcher (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=49655) . It launches 18 apps from one hard button and can be configured to launch 18 more for each of those options. Best of all it is FREE! It has been very stable and easy to use. Give it a try. :)

Hi Sebring,
No, you're not...
I've had the weird NetFront problem and a random HotSync problem as well. Both disappeared when I disabled McPhling as well.

I've completely deleted it, and all of it's components, with Uninstall Manager, plus I've clean installed it after a hard reset and still problems. But, no I never simply cleared the McPhling cache. Thanks for the suggestion.
I just recently did another hard reset and the problem with NetFront remains if I select any of the "Swipe" activation options in McPhling, but as long as I leave Okey off of my Clie, McPhling works fine (so far) using the Jog Push and hold and Back Push and hold for activation.
Also, even after a complete hard reset and reinstall (yep I also deleted the backup files from my PC), ZLauncher crashes my Clie whenever I use it to launch DAMemopad. (I've reported this to Li). Other DA Launchers launch DAMemopad just fine on my Clie. ZLauncher launches all my other DAs just fine also. Weird Huh?
I miss my NR, it was so stable.

I was having problems with McPhling on my TH55 using the Back button-Hold option. I believe that CO may be interfering as it has it's own designs on that button. I know that the NX80 doesn't have CO, but other progs may be trying to use the back button. I solved my McPhling problem by setting the Left button to "Back", and the Right button to "Apps". Now McPhling is rock solid. So you might try some other buttons, as I had some trouble with the Jog as well. When I briefly owned an NX70, I launched "Apps" via McPhling with the Capture-Hold button.

How the back button isn't that well designed (in my opinion). Apps can override the default behavior... which makes it impossible for something like McPling or Switch5 to use for every app.
