ClieSource Subscription Update

Just to update. We will be delaying the 'Subscription' option for ClieSource to give way for the vBulletin 3 upgrade. vB3 (which was just rleaesed) will be much more flexible to handle some of the changes we are thinking. Migrating to VB3 will involve a lot of changes, even on the main page of ClieSource. The changes will not be overnight and we expect to have the new look of the site launched sometime at the end of the second quarter.

Thanks for everyone who have expressed their thoughts on the 'subscription' option. For the record, we will not remove any current features from the registered members. What we intend to do is just add on to the features for subscribed members and hope to give special discounts to subscribed members from ClieSource affiliates/supporters. The subscription fee will be around $12/year ($1 month).

This is a much more reasonable "Subscription" program. Thanks for taking user input into account. I do suggest calling it a "Donation" rather than a subscription. I work for a company that recently went from a full version/upgrade based software business to a subscription-based business. I'll let you know from experience that the word subscription, when used in an industry where it's not normally accepted, tends to put people off.

Yea. I think that just calling it a donation might go over better with some people. Donate and get some free perks.

Definately donation! I, as others allready do that so it is not so frightening.

Like the idea of discounts from advertisers, this may help bring them on board.

If you have already donated could this be taken into account?

I completely agree with Hrun, cbulock and Mayday45 with the dropping of "subscription" for "donation". I know it's only a little thing, but thats the difference between good and great.
At the moment Cliesource is the first site I've found that's so vibrant and full of information shared in goodwilll- a true wealth of knowledge. If you think about it, it's pretty kewl seeing everyone trying to help each other like they do. It'd be nice if this kinda goodwill was more abundant in the world outside :)
