I was looking at Visorcentral.com Visor modules section and guess what? The Visor has more modules than the Clie, but the price is almost twice for any kind of module.
See this 802.11b module for the Visor:
http://www.visorcentral.com/content/Products/factsheet-142-28-all.htm
Do you see the price? $300 for that?

See how big this thing is?

It looks like it consumes so much battery that they sell it with an AC adaptor.
Now, are we spoil children of Sony? Go figure.

You missed a category, I got one, but still think it over priced:D!
IMHO, $75.00 would have been a fairer price
The people at Visor must be smoking something really good!

I used to be an active Visor user and believe me when I say it was such a pain. Every single module was overprice twice or 3 times its actual price. Can you believe that an mp3 module used to cost around $250? and Some people would buy it. I was feeling so frustrated with my Visor, and realized that it was only an expensive toy. Now, with my Clie I feel more than happy even though we are paying more than PocketPC users will pay for the same thing.

$300 for a proprietary Springboard module that is! These Visor wireless modules have been around for 3 years now.. and yes, they are still expensive. It would tend to stay that way when there are only 2 manufacturers making them.
Same thing applies with Sony's WiFi card. It's going to stay expensive until there are others that are supported. In addition, we aren't talking about a proprietary interface. "CF Type II 802.11b network adapters"... have we never seen these before? Although CFII isn't proprietary, Sony can get around that by not supporting OTHER CF cards.
Netgear's 802.11b CF Adapter can be had for $65.

I bought mine with a $130 gift card + about $30 for the rest and shipping. It's cool and all, but I find that it is very slow. Wireless hotsyncing feels slower than a USB hotsync. I'm set up with powersaving off and still it is slow.
UGH =P

Of course I did! That's the reality of working everyday and the wife stays home with the kids. Not that she does't do anything around here, but I get the paychecks and she spends it. Her money is her money and my money is her money. As long as I keep on making it, I'm safe!

Oh, btw, it was still nice of her. It was something I wanted but didn't buy myself. So she still did something good! (any wife who helps support a tech junkie is a good wife!)

I bought it, I'm happy with it, I use it frequently, and best of all at least my NX CF port is good for something. So is all that worth $132? It was to me, sure I would have loved to pay less but that was the best price available when I needed it so...

WiFi HS is just as fast as the USB for me, it makes no difference if it's to my Ethernet wired desktop or WiFi laptop. It zips along very nicely.
yahoo! just ordered my wifi card from amazon, used up all my giftcerfiticates, so basically i got it for free :)

It may be expensive, but you can use the card with a Pocket PC or on a laptop so that helped ease my pain. The card also has excellent range and blows away the $50 cards availalble for Pocket PCs and laptops. I would rather have paid about $100 to $115 though.

Hey I am considering the WL100...how far can you folks get with your WIFI? I know environmentals come in to it but how far have you gotten?

I was in the waiting room at the back of a car wash (totally surrounded by walls) and was able to connect to the WiFi network at the dealership waaaaaaay across the boulevard -- I'd estimate at about 150 feet, with walls in between.
I was also able to connect to my home wireless network at my NYC apartment one floor up at the opposite end of the hall (it's a real long hotel-like corridor). I'd estimate at about 100 feet with walls and whatever else is in between the floors.
I was able to connect from the third floor of my parents' house to a neighbor's WiFi network. I was able to remain connected across the street in my car while waiting for my mother to come down. Side note -- this one was actually kinda cool because I was just trying to show my father that I could easily hop onto his WiFi network without configuration... then he told me that his WAP wasn't even on! He tried to log on with his laptop's built-in WiFi, but it couldn't even detect the network! (And I was in the same room grabbing my email with the NX :D) I can't even estimate the range since I don't even know the source of the connection.
The WL100 is an EXCELLENT card with AMAZING range and performance -- definitely a cut above the cheapo $60 cards that you can get anywhere.

I'd consider buying it if it went below $100. Sure would be nice to surf the web while sitting on the toilet! *lol*

$150 is way too much for a simple wireless card.

ebay is your friend :) ... I didn't get a great deal, but after shipping and tax get added via Sony's site, I managed to save about $15 overall via ebay.

After sending my T68i (bought while on our honeymoon in Italy funnily enough) through the washing machine, my wife had no objection to me buying a NX70 and the Wifi card - I guess guilt is also a wonderful thing in a relationship ;)

$150 bucks and it was slow...! I have not the patience for it. Plus the browser is horrible...”Page it too large to be displayed”.
Money I have, but the product has to have value to me. If it worked well, that is FAST and without any ERRORS. I would still own it, but I found that after the first day or so I simply stopped using it out of frustration. It was configured correctly I could hot-sync wirelessly, send emails surf (if you can call it that), the works. It just didn't do any of it well (apart from hot-syncing). On top of all this it was a real drain on my batteries.
I will wait until they get the bugs ironed out. Maybe when the OX-70v comes out.

Did you use the little green maginifying glass on the bottom of the screen? It zooms out and renders a lower-quality version of all of the pics (NetFront has NO problems with text-heavy pages) -- this dramatically cuts back on the errors. Also, you can disable images and CSS (I can load practically every page I go to with those off).
You could have also tried Blazer, WebProV, and Pocketlink -- none render pages with the IE-like accuracy of NetFront, but they're quick as heck (except maybe Pocketlink).

I agree...Netfront seems to render pages the best (it fits pages in the window very nicely) and it has 320X480 support. The only problem I have with netfront so far I can't access hotmail. Why do I always get this "Page to large, not all content may be displayed properly" message?
