hey,

I made many tests recently encoding videos for Movie Player and figured out yesterday that Image Converter had no problems enconding divx or xvid video (which i thought wouldn't work) ;

My method :
- from any divx/xvid file
- with virtualdub i reencode audio in wav (maybe cbr mp3 would work too)
- then get an approx 1.6gb file (from a 700mb one)
- convert this file with IC (using standard quality)

I encoded two films yesterday (one divx, one xvid), this took me less than 1hour for each of them ;

I'm using Image Converter 1.1

IC standard quality mode is 2mb/min whatever the source ; a full movie will be between 150 and 200mb

divx has been known to work with IC (at least for the version i'm using)
it doesn't recognize xvids, so i use virtualdub to convert

as well, i found the image converter prefs program to edit the file output size (it allows you to change video and audio bitrate
at first it didn't work with IC1.1, but i found the IC1.0 exe and overwrite it with IC1.1 install

now it works really well, and outputs a file size higher than 128megs
so now i converted a regularly 407mb movie into 123mb!

anitanium, i confirm i've encoded an xvid file with IC 1.1 with no problem

Could you give me a hint on where to find IC 1.0 ?

IC 1.0 and 1.1 will convert xvid if you are using the latest codecs. also, if you have the latest divx codec it will also decode xvid as well.
