Legacy 1.05 and the official expansion pack have officially been released at http://www.redshift.hu/ . I am going to go download it myself. I guess I can say good bye to my free time

Wow, things have really jumped in price

1 quest down. I like how the expansion level is going. It has been a while since I played Legacy so this has been good at getting me back into the swing of things

Yeah, it's released - enjoy! :) I'm here for some tips and hints.

I don't think there was any price movements, only better weapons added which are going to be more expensive.:)

volcanopele

No, absolutely they are better weapons, though of course my income stream is improved. Though I need to find where the keepers of the key hid the key :)

Still stumped about where the "Keepers of the Key" keep the key. I have one locked door left in the Dungeon of the Dead and I presume that the Keepers of the Key hold the key to that door. But after going through all the teleporters, I see no key. So i have found and given both flowers to Miranda and found the book for the bartender. Have't gone for Miranda's husbands blade (though I found her husband), and I talked to Mr. No-name (don't know the characters name but I think that's close enough

"But after going through all the teleporters, I see no key."

But the key is there... Look at your map, and look at the teleporters. :)

Prices: of course the new, cool weapons and armors needs bigger price. But if you finished the main Legacy world, you have enough gold...

Yeah, that's it. Currently Billy Bob, George, Stevie, and Oprah are in the ancient tower trying to get past the force field. Is the sign next to it related to closing the force field or something past the force field

Thanks to all the Redshift Team for this. This is truly a wonderful game.

However, I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post this, but I've noticed a couple of bugs? in either V1.05 and/or the expanssion pack.

1. Some sounds are gone (e.g. when you drink a potion or hit a monster)

2. If you accumulate gold above 101K, it won't show up at the Inns. All other shops show your gold, but not the Inns.

I thought you would like to know.

Othewise, like I said, the game is great and I am enyoing it like crazy.

P.S. Sorry for double posting, but I do not know if this thread is just for hints and tips or for all issues about the expansion pack.

Solano
03-28-2004, 06:59 AM
Sorry, quick correction, when you go above 111k your gold shows up again, I guess the zeros are too "fat" and they prevent the rest of the numbers from showing (e.g. 103, 105, 107, 109), but the ones are thin enought to allow the rest to show (e.g. 101, 111, 113, etc.). But I assume that this might eventually become a problem again if my gold goes beyond 119k?

istara

Hooray! So glad to see it's been released at last.

As soon as people start progressing through the game, and there are tips/hints here, I will make some new pages for my hints website - http://www.hyperflame.com/toby/legframeset.html

Also please feel free to email tips/maps/walkthroughs to me at istara[DON'TSPAM]@istara[NOSPAM].com

istara

Only just started, and have just completed my first quest! (The Innkeeper's Visitor Book).

LOVE the new bows, the potion stacking, and being able to change characters names. Julius is now "Merlios" (sounded more mage-like, less Roman soldier).

And I got rid of my boring knight, and picked up an amazing swordmaster called Astara (like my own name - no need to change this one!)

Length of the mission pack: well, it's the same as the Legacy was. But please count with less puzzles - based on the feedbacks, I included less annoying puzzles, but the world size is the same.

New characters in the inn: well, I hope they are cool enough for most of the players... Level 15 characters with cool armors/weapons - ideal after finishing the original Legacy, but a little weak for true Legacy killing-machines, and a little "cheat" if somebody runs in the new inn right after arriving Grendelmoore. :)

Solano: this is the right thread for everything - including bugs - about the mission pack... Thanks for the bug report! The sound bug appears only on a few Pocket PC devices, I think... The gold bug: you're right. But if you have such a big amount, get rid of it quickly: buy some cool new adamantium/firelizard items in the new shop! :)

Thanks for the reply Sylon.

I must admit I have been gambling heavily at the tables precisely because I want to buy a whole bunch of the new items, so you can be sure I will be spending it soon!

About the sound, I have an NZ-90, which is Palm OS based, not PPC, so I guess this issue is no just limited to PPC devices. In any case it is not a major issue, so I am still enjoying the game!

Thanks again, I look forward to get my hands on more of your future games, missions and updates!

You Redshift guys are great!...Keep up the good work!

Anyone lost in the unmappable Forest of the Dead? Have no fear - I am half way through making a cheat map! It should be ready in a day or so.

Now I just need to register the Expansion Pack so I can make use of that portal I just found...

Sylon/Redshift
03-28-2004, 05:06 PM
I hope everybody knows that the city has two different parts with two "forest" exits! (And some underground exits...)

Dead Forest: well, a map can be good - because not only a teleporter is there...

Sound: okay, thanks, we'll see what can we do...

I think you play with a super party, right? Some real killing machines, who finished at least two times the main game... Or with just one super-levelled character. Remember: the expansion pack fits to a 15th levelled party. :)

small question, in Satan's hall, past the test of memory, what did I deactivate in the large room? I tried the force fields and the grates, but neither seemed to be it.

Sylon/Redshift
03-29-2004, 05:31 AM
Vulcanopele: that switch deactivated one "invisible teleporter" from the three, which pushes you back in the northern part of the map (in the central passage). Now you must find two other switches to deactivate the other invisible teleporters...

Interesting that most of the players do first the "evil" side of the Mission Pack... The other side (west from the city, through the high forest) is somewhat easier, I think.

Legacy hints website updated! (http://www.hyperflame.com/toby/legframeset.html)

Very early stages yet as I've only just started the game. Updates include:

- Andervill quest list + some solutions
- Ancient Tower hints
- Ancient Tower map
- Ancient Tower Cellar map

If you're getting lost and frustrated in the Ancient Tower, the maps show all of the gold and grey gates, as well as letter codes for holes, stairways and portals to show where they take you.

Sylon/Redshift
03-29-2004, 03:16 PM
Wow! Very cool Istara! But please don't reveal secret things: the "gates" are also secret ones, because the pergamen not says what are the "golden" and "grey" things...

Redshift (Stewe)

Not sure if this would be the best place to post bugs, but we did in the last tips thread.

I started the expansion pack with my party (4 members all @ level 16). After playing for some time and killing lots of bad guys I checked my stats to see when I would level up. I continued to play and noticed my exp points were not climbing. My exp points only started to increase when I found the location to input my registration. What a waste of time. :(

I have the saved game in case you need it.

Anyone beside me purchase the expansion pack before even downloading version 1.05 or the pack? I knew it would be good.

I purchased it the second I noticed it was online.

Stuck! Questions:

1. In the Ancient Tower - do you have to choose EITHER the tough OR the tougher way, or is there a way of doing both?

2. In the Dungeon of the Dead, there is a Redshift Altar, I am not sure what to put on it. Later, there are some red-on-red, green-on-green things, but as yet I can't find anything to put on them.

3. Dungeon of the Dead - I broke down all the walls in a big room, but no matter what squares I try to step on in the next room, I get teleported back to the start. Help please!

volcanopele
03-30-2004, 09:10 AM
Sylon: yep the entire mission pack

istara:

1. You play one or the other. I was a pansy and chose tough.

2.You put an item there. All I will say, is to look at the note opposite the altar. Somewhere else you will receive or find an item. Using the note, you will know when you find the item.

3.This room has a set path that is okay and won't get you teleported back. There is some trial and error in this. You will find a few places in the game with this.

Sylon/Redshift
03-30-2004, 09:12 AM
1.: You don't have to complete all two ways, but you CAN - if you are courageous in the beginning. :)

2.: It's the mission pack's super secret (like the redshift key + axe was in the main game), so I can't tell you more about that... :)

3.: You can walk accross this room, just remember what squares are invisible teleporters, and try to bypass them all. (You also can get a cool weapon there, if you are clever. :) )

Thanks guys! Figured it out at last.

Now I am stuck again though - at the Keepers of the Key teleporters - I killed lots of spiders, but the teleporters just keep taking me back to the start again. I activated every single button in the previous room, killing every foe that appeared, but the teleporters still don't do anything :(

volcanopele

Hmm. I got it - but just randomly. I tried going back into ones I'd just arrived in, then suddenly got to the right place. But colour wise they all seemed to be the same except the last one.

Now: one more q: I have Part 1 and Part 3 of the Maze Map - is it safe to enter the Maze of Souls without the second one?

I assume having them all allows you to see the entire map of the area for which it is made. Would be tricky without it.

Search the alternate world for the second part.:)

"But colour wise they all seemed to be the same except the last one."

Sh@t... Then it's a bug. :) Not the last one, but the "good" teleporter must look different.

Summoner statue: there is no Summoner statue in the mission pack...
Ancient tower door: if you choose one way in level 3, you never gonna be able to choose the other - except if you're courageous in the start. :)

Maze map: if you don't have all three parts, you gonna get lost quickly - stepping on three different points of the map you will be teleported back with a little message. If you have the map parts, stepping on these points you will get a different message, and the game lets you further.

I have made it to the maze door a while back. It's the key that I keep missing, is it somewhere in the "Dead" areas. Bytheway this expansion is well worth the 9.99, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

in the Satans Hall?

i cant get to the door in the south, please help me.

Sylon/Redshift
03-31-2004, 05:40 AM
Test of memory: read all four pergamens beside the levers, and try to memorize them. :) Every lever "exchanges" two pillars which are in the numbers. (There are 5 pillars, numbered from 1 to 5.)

Price: well, yeah, lots of people buy it (more than we expected before), so I think there will be at least one more pack like this... But I think it's gonna connected to the FIRST global teleport, to start it with a brand new party - because if we continue now the gameplay, we can't balance the game for your half-gods and your hundred thousand gold... :)
Of course if somebody creates new, extra hard maps with the editor (yes, a few people already started to do some), everybody can try them with his/her half-gods - for free...

In God's Hall - got as far as the Teleporters Room. I can get around, but I can't find any switches to shut off the permanent holes, or open the south door.

Also stuck in Satan's Hall - can't work out how to get past the forcefields in the rooms with all the statues to east and west, or to turn off the teleporting grates in the passageway going north.

I have been trying to kill the behmouth (?) king with no success. I hit it hard to drain its points and then hit it with all the arrows but it wont drop. Any suggestions?

Second problem. I found the crucifix but now realize that I dont have it. I dumped some stuff a while back and think I might have dumped it by accident. Any way to get it back?

It takes a while to kill the Behemoth King. Kill him right down normally, until he has just a tiny sliver of red left, then fire the arrows at him. (And make sure you definitely have the right quiver selected, because the Behemoth one is the same colour as some of the others).

Behemoth King: this is exactly what I did and this creature is still alive! Every time the King hits my party it seems like he recovers a part of his health. Has anyone else experienced that, please?

Swim42: maybe there is a "problem" with your saved game, because you started the game with an older - beta test - version, and now you play with the release version.
But it's just a tip.

Crucifix: if you drop a quest item, you never gonna get it back... Maybe after waiting seven days and get back to the place where you found it.

The behemoth king: you can hurt him with any weapons, but the killing works just with the arrows which are in the "Behemoth Quiver". This quiver is in the hole in the high forest. If you used them all accidentally before, wait seven days and go back for another special quiver.

If it still don't work (and the crucifix too), please send me your saved game...

Istara: holes room: there is no special thing to do. Just time the holes, walk around - finally you gonna reach a lever.

Give the arrows to one of your frontrow fighters. Your wimpy little magic users don't pack the neccessary punch to put the king down for good.

[B]Swim42: maybe there is a "problem" with your saved game, because you started the game with an older - beta test - version, and now you play with the release version.

I did alll that with the behemouth king...several times infact, but no luck. Ill send you the game.
Thanks for your help

I'm finished with the expansion pack, but I would like to know some direction to the Redshift book, searching everywhere is not a good answer, I am not asking for the location, I just want a direction it is in.

Hey Larry,

I received your saved game, loaded it, and I CAN kill the Behemoth King... You really do the right thing? Hit it until he has a very little amount of hp, then swap your knight's weapon to the behemoth quiver and some bow, and attack the monster: with just two attacks the Behemoth King died by me.

You really use the newest game version with the newest mission pack version? (Remember: during the beta testing there was a small bug with this monster's script, but we fixed it until the release version...)

Thanks for the help on the "Maze of Souls," guys. Haven't had time to find it yet, but I'm sure I will.

Any suggestions on that golden wall of force in God's Hall? You know, the one just past the southern door that you open by switching the golden items on the shelves? Still stymied.

And I'm a "he," BTW.

Thanks!

Redshift Book???

OK: I have researched every single inch of Another Dimension (and had to kill everyone again because seven days had passed since my last visit there). I've gone through places like the Catacombs again as well as Hraneus's cellar. I've tried to enter every door, and looked in every barrel. I've even tried tapping on piles of trash. There is an area of the city I can't get to - but there aren't any breakable walls there.

There is one strange place in the Catacombs where there is a book rest behind some acid. There is no book on it. The only book I ever found was a Dark Book, for which I can find no purpose. (I tried putting it on the Redshift Altar earlier).

Clues please?! I really don't want to finish the entire game without the benefit of this Magic Secret Redshift Thing, whatever it may be ;)

Quite frankly I don't remember. BTW, the dark book does have a purpose. Go back to town to find out where.

Yes, I have the latest version and tried to kill him multiple times using the correct arrows and after drawing down all his points. I dont know what to do. I guess Ill redownload and try it again. As to the crucifix.... Its lost and I have no idea where I found it before. Do I really need it for anything? If so, maybe you can just email me and tell me where to look.

Larry,

The behemoth thing works, as I said, I tried it with your saved game - I think you don't have the newest version from both the game and the mission pack, or do something wrong during the battle...
Of course I can send your saved game to you after killing the behemoth king...

And the crucifix is disappeared because you already finished that quest... :) You received some adamantium armors/weapons, and you use them right now with your fighters. :)

Finally got the damn beheamuth King in his grave where he belongs. I think I must have had a bug embedded or something. Maybe it had to do with my doing the game on a Tungsten? I gave the bow to another charecter and they succeeded on the very last arrow.

Thanks for checking Sylon. Now if you can help with finding my lost crucifix. Also, in the hall of Gods, I think it is, there is a task to trade gold for gold to clear a field and I did that but still cant open the door. Any suggestions anyone?

OK - I finished the Expansion Pack (BRILLIANT game by the way!) and even found the Magic Secret Special Thing.

Only here's the weird thing: I don't have the cross anymore, and the quest details for it are completed, but I don't remember doing anything with it.

Where did it go?!

The crucifix is going somewhere to The Unnamed + The Fugitive NPC-pair in the city... I think you already finished these quests and got the cool adamantium items.
Btw, these are just side-quests.

istara

I did get those items - yes!

By the way - just one small thing - I was really disappointed with the Adamantium Axe - it was only str +4, compared to str +5 for the Redshift Axe. There were masses of amazing swords in the game, but very few decent axes :(

Sylon/Redshift
04-02-2004, 07:29 AM
Istara: the damage is what really matters. The adamantium battle axe and the hell sabre's damage is the best in the game.
And remember: the redshift axe is just a super secret thing, only a few players have it. :)

Hey guys,

So roughly how long has it taken you to finish the expansion pack? Some of you are already finishing the game. It seems like this is much shorter than the original Legacy. Just curious. I just don't want the game to end, again! LOL.

Dear Sylon,

I am using Legacy 1.05 with expansion pack on NX-60 4.9M free RAM out of memory stick. I followed the instructions and gave a 'long bow' with 11-17 damage to a sword master (47 str) and I used up all 19 behemoth arrow and everytime I can damage the beast to just 1 single hit-point but then he heals himself to the original level (i guess 10 hit points by the number of red lines) and I just can never kill him. Can you please help?
Thanks

To everyone who can't kill the Behemoth King for some mystical reason: the active "Hour of Gods" spell includes "Firewall" spell too - beside Bless, Stone Skin and so on -, which causes some trouble during this combat: when the King has really low hp, he gains hp from damages. So you better wait until the Firewall spell timeout, and then attack the King...

What are some of the highest levels people are achieving? I used Julius to solo the first game, but that won't work with the expansion due to the "demon power". Anyway, my little Julius is all grown up to level 25, there are two rocks to touch still, but past that I don't see any way to get the millions of exp needed for more levels. So, has anyone been able to get higher, say 30 or so?

Hi,

I have been stuck in the Ancient Tower for a bit now. I am in the second level and chose the Tougher side (hoping for tougher enemies to take on).

I cannot get into the guard area, as I do not have the required key.

I opened up the hidden wall with the switch in the first room and noticed in the second room that there is a arrow shaped blood pattern on the floor.

Any hints to get past this?

*sigh*...okay...I'm sure I did *everything* in the wrong order, but I still can't figure out what to do with the Dark Book, or the Crucifix! I've finished everything but Hell, the Dark Hall, God's Hall & Satan's Hall. How long do I have to keep carrying these??? (*g*)
Also, one other question: does numer of items carried (not worn) increase encumbrance? ...I also haven't noticed any particular penalties for putting heavier armor on my SwordMaster, or my spellcasters; I tried changing around pieces, but the only difference I see is a reduction in AC....is that a myth? ("A what?" "A Myth! Myth!" "Yeth?")

B: is there anything of use underneath Hell?

As there is a wall here and a wall there and another wall here and another wall there and further walls here and there till you finally reach the door, many things may be normal. Consider: In a maze there are many many walls on the left on on the right and in front of you and behind you. And most often there are even walls above you and below you (except the pits) :p

I used Julius solo through both games. Here are his stats after finishing the expansion:

Level: 30
Exp: 5.4 million (next level 5.9 million)
Damage 19-26 (with the Wisdom of Orasare)
AC: 50
Hit points: 140
Spell points: 942
Strength: 8
Dex: 5
End: 28
Int: 157

After every level, I put all I could into intelligence, then the last point into endurance. I never put anything into strength of dexterity.

He's wearing:

Wisdom of Orasare (staff): +15 int
Rusty Plate Mail: +3 int
Serpent Shield: +7 int
Ebony Great Helm: +4 int
Adamantium Chain Shirt
Firelizard Leather Skirt
Ebony Armored Pants: +6 int
Firelizard Boots: +7 int
Ebony Battle Gauntlets: +5 int
Aristocratic Necklace: +6 int
Gem Ring: +4 int

He changed into other stuff when he actually needed to hit something, mostly pluses to strength. His best spell is Lightning Bolt, doing 188-298 damage, with Paralyze coming in very handy.

SPOILERS!!!

There are two solutions for this Dragon Lair-puzzle. The first is an easy one: try to find a secret button where "generally" you never start to search, after playing a while with the two Force Fields...

The second solution (let's name it "Teleport Memorizing") is from Ian, a guy on PDArcade - this is a complex one, but it works in several other places in the game too:

- Hit button 1 in the Lair
- Removes force field 1
- Go to where Force field 1 is... Cast "Teleport" to mark the spot, and return to city
- Go from City back into Lair
- Hit Button 2 in the Lair (which gets rid of Force field 2, and puts back Force field 1)
- Exit Lair to City
- Teleport from City back into Lair (puts you at Force field 1), and then just step south

:)

In the tower on, I think the second or third level, you have a choice of West (easier) or East (tougher) maybe its the reverse of that. In anycase, one of those doors is a gold door with no handle, just the round knob in the center. I keep coming back to it but cant figure out how to open it. Any suggestions?

Hi gang,

I'm kinda stuck, but not really by a certain obstacle, it's more like I don't know what to do next.

I have the four statues, which Mersant does not recognize, i.e. when I go to him, he tells me 'Welcome ... find the statues ... let you trough force field ...'

Now, In both God's and Satan's Halls, I went about everywhere (taht I can tell) until I had messages telling me 'you hear a column moving' (or something similar), but I was not able to find the said columns!

Are those two cases linked?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, I haven't found the Redshift book, so I must have missed some place (but I really don't see where).

Sylon/Redshift

Istara: that map is one of the Editor's beta testing group's works. So it's in beta now, not finished yet. But if you want to take a look at it (or other free maps), please write to Stewe (stewe@redshift.hu) and he'll let you into the beta group.

Kitsune: I think you have one statue twice... Look their names.
If you don't know which pillar moved, I think you never was in the Sorceress Queen's lair. You must go into the Dark Hall and search for removed pillars. :)

Redshift Book: it's just a secret thing, not need for completing the game.

You might be right as I don't recall killing that queen!

However, I do have 4 statues, with different names : Possessor, Cacodemon, Ayizza, and Behemoth.

Now, I guess the 'Ayizza' one must not be the correct one :(

So close to the end, and yet ...

I'm in the Dragon Lair, and have found the key in the Ancient Lair, but when I want to open the first door after the telporter that brings you inthe Dragon Lair, it tells me that I do not have the right key!

Is that normal?

I still cannot complete the quest with the un-named! There is no staff in the catacombs in the ruined Descrantes in my game! The only thing that is there is a club, exactly the same as in the non-ruined Descrantes.

I waited a week and went back. I killed the boat load of zombies in the catacomb and then searched every where in the area. No staff. Sylon, can you help?

Kitsune: there are two keys in two Dragon Lairs... Mersant opened two ways for you in the city, remember...
The Ayizza statue is from the "Morah's Plan" addon map, not from the official Mission Pack...

Unregistered: the Staff is really in Ruined Decrantes - I hope you opened the cracked wall to the south, as in the original Legacy game...

Gorgol: the Dark Book is really in a forest... Search carefully, look for walls... (A wall in a forest?? Whoa! :) )

Well, now Iīm stuck in Queenīs Plane.
I had been there before and wasnīt able to kill the Queen but now that Iīm ack, she isnīt there anymore.
I made a little map of the hidden teleports.
They surround me copletely in a square. So the only way out is a teleport spell...

OK, I finished the mission pack! :D

I even found the redshift book!
I must admit that I did not find it in the first place because the Redshift key from the 1st pack was just laying on the floor at some point of the adventure, and so I was expecting the same for the book. Therefore I had looked everywhere (I could see), and could not find it of course! :p

I do not think my characters are at such a high level as other people on the forum:

Adventurer Lvl 21
Adventurer Lvl 19
Cleric Lvl 20 (but he gained 2 lvls thanks to green stones)
Mage Lvl 18

I think I saw someone with lvl 22-25 characters! Well, I don't know how he reached this! He must have been killing every monster in every towns and forests several time while waiting for the mission pack! :D

Thank a lot to Redshift for this entertaining pack!

Now, when's the next one! ;)

As I remember it, as I was killing him with the arrows, his red bar was going down, but it went up slightly as well once or twice. Then it went down again.

Perhaps he was healing himself slightly, or perhaps I imagined this.

Gorgol: yes, the only way out from there is a teleport spell. But if you don't kill the Queen, she must be there...

Maxq: it's impossible. :) If you really don't have any active spells on you, you can kill the King with choosing the right arrows and attack with a bow.

Ferret1: go in the city (Andervill) with those items... Search for two NPCs in two houses: The Unnamed and The Fugitive.

After finishing the Mission Pack, I played around a bit and some questions came back to me:

- Did anyone experience the difference (if any) in the mission pack between the magic or weapon way (the choice after killing Sohl)?

- At the end of Part 1, in Sohl's cave, there was a room full of floor plates and an exit barred by a force wall. I seem to recall that somebody said that it would be linked to the Mission Pack, does anybody else remember that conversation? If yes, is there e a link?

Hum ... and I had another question, but it slips my mind for the moment ...

"Did anyone experience the difference (if any) in the mission pack between the magic or weapon way (the choice after killing Sohl)?"

Yeah, everybody - who looks into his/her inventory. :) You received a super bonus item after this choice. (A super magic staff, or a super strong weapon, both of them named "Orasare xy".)

"At the end of Part 1, in Sohl's cave, there was a room full of floor plates"

It's just a secret thing, a simple puzzle, everyone can make it in the main game too... Step only those plates which doesn't activate the forcewall. At the end of this room, you'll find two fountains (one for raise dead characters).

Of course I've seen what I now have in my inventory. I actually have both!

That's not what I meant. But I think I understand it better now.

I had had the impression that the scenario or the interaction with monsters would vary depending on the choice made.

Now I realize it only meant receiving one item or the other! Which is fine too! :D

Do you want a direct instruction or an hint ?

And for the God 'hall : are the items you are talking about are the two keys I found on the shelves ? I have tried to shift them again and again, with no success.

Please some help !

I would like instruction on how to find it, not just a hint. You can email me at swim42@aol.com. Thank you.

As to the queen, you have to finish the dark hall, satatn's hall, God's hall. You then find a switch and can access the transporter in the center of one of the halls, the dark one I think. That takes you to a new area and you will find the queen there. You can miss her, she is one of the few residents.

Spoiler follows:

As to the items found that you have to exchange, its not the keys. Somewhere along the line you will have found a gold crown and a gold something else. I dont remember what. You will be tempted to keep them, but THEY are the things you have to exchange on the shelves. If you picked them up and lost track of what was on which shelf, as I did, simply try them on each shelf and see what works. Then the door will open.

I've been experimenting with one character only. When I keep that player in the second slot, no enemy can seem to hit the character except by a paralyze and usually I have a chance to take a potion to heal this. This appears to be a bug. I think the monster attacks are being directed at the empty first slot.

Okay, I must be very near the end of the maze of soles. I have searched the whole maze (heck, the whole world that I have acess to without having all four little gold statues) and the blue door at the end (?) of the maze (the SE corner) still tells me I don't have the right key. Since I haven't seen any posting about this door key, I assume that it is not particularly tricky to find. I have found everything else so far without too much problem.

Am I forgetting or missing some clue somewhere? Did I accidently drop the key without realizing it? Can anyone offer me any hints or suggests on how to narrow my search for this missing key?

Thanks for any help you may have to offer.

Magicman: you can't put a player in the second line if there is nobody in the first line... If yes - somehow you made it -, then it's really a bug. How did you this?

Nsherry: yes, there is nothing special, just search in the third part of that Maze for the third key - as I can remember, every key is behind cracked walls. Just break them.

Hi Sylon,
It was very easy. I started with two characters, and then removed the character in the first slot which left the other character in this case in the second slot.

Sylon/Redshift
04-13-2004, 07:06 PM
But how did you that "remove"? You can't remove characters from the first line in taverns if you don't have other characters - or if you drop a character from the first line, the other characters automatically going in the first line.
I just tested this right now in a tavern...

magicman
04-13-2004, 11:40 PM
Here is the sequence. I started with 4 characters. I went to a tavern and dropped a character in position 2 and took a new character. I then transferred all of the items to that character from the others. I then removed the other characters. The remaining character is in position 2. I'll send you an email with the attached save file. Let me know what you find.

Sylon/Redshift
04-14-2004, 05:49 AM
I checked your saved game: hey, that character is in the first line! Just in the second slot. But in the first line, so she can be damaged. Just because you dropped all cool items to this character, your AC (armor class) is very big, so "normal" monsters can't hurt her. Try to fight with BIG monsters, like the Behemoths in the mission pack... :)

dbytes

Sylon,

Just about finished with my second trip through the exp pack. The first was with my 4 member party and now it's withmy battlemage. BTW, she's at level 31 with just the dragons to finish off.

I found a bug that can be used to player's advantage. In the lairs with the 2 forcefields, the bad guys on the other side will not pass through the hall even if the forcefields were removed. I lure them up, especially non-magic casting characters, and just send ranged weapons or magic at them and I'm left harmless. I did this with both the party and now I accomplished this with my battlemage.

For everyone else, I recently discovered that you can cast a fireball spell at a column and damage any bad guys that are next to them. This works well in Satan's Hall and the floor just below where you can't reach them until you remove columns or teleport to their side.

I'll post my stats for my Lvl 31 battlemage once I finish off the dragons. I think this may be a long battle as my magic doesn't seem to affect them. :p

Sylon/Redshift

Level 31 character? Nice... :D

Fireball: yes, it's a known "trick".

And yes, monsters cannot walk across force fields, teleporters, holes, etc. - even if they are removed now. Sorry, the game engine works in this way... Monsters cannot step on special objects.

Characters?? Sorry, my English is not the best, I thought you was talking about monsters ("bad guys"). So, characters can walk across removed forcewalls, monsters not.

Sorry, I did mean monsters.

De hat, nem tudok beszelni magyarul, olyan mint te tudsz angolul.

If any bad words, blame my friend!

Thanks for the native words, I feel somewhat comfortable now in this forum. :)

I have no clue what reds and greens they're talking about. The only red n green items I have are potions and various armours. I tried the potions with no luck, and it seems tedious to try all of the armour items.
What does it want on those shelves?
In case there are more of these later, I'm in the Dungeon of the Dead.

Thanks.

Go to the NorthEast of the map to find the items in question.:)

I haven't seen this in any other post so I thought I would let everyone know of a cheat that I found. If you turn your party around during a battle (so there are no monsters in sight) you can cast a remove curse, hour of gods, etc. with no turn penalty. You can also do this after three characters have taken their turns and it will reset all four. (Hit, Hit, Spell, turn and cast remove curse: all are reset.)

Too Cool. I've done this when fighting monsters on different sides and it didn't even register to do this with a single monster.

First, I LOVED the game, both the original and the expansion. But second, I'm being driven crazy by 3 things that I just can't seem to get (though I've finished the main quests, killed the dragons etc.).

1) There's a forcefield in the northern half of Anderville-- to the east. I can't figure out how to turn it off.

2) There's a locked gate in the cellar in the house in the southern part of Andervill-- I don't have the key. Did I miss something? (I do have a wide range of cellar/ catacomb keys, the Redshift key from the first part, etc., and I did complete the quest for the Bartender etc., but nothing seems to open that gate...)

3) I can't find the Redshift Book. I'm standing right where I think it is (that empty book stand in front of a pool of poison), and I've noticed that some of the walls in that area are not hittable-- that is, I try hitting and get no sound. So I figure SOMETHING is different there, but I'm stumped. I've read all through the threads, read the hint about hitting and walking around, but I'm obviously missing something...

1., Finish the bartender's quest in Andervill, and you will know what to do...

2., Again, finish the Bartender's quest... (If you already finished it, you received a key for this section.)

3., Read back the thread: this book is really in the Ruined Decrantes map...

Rayderfan: wow, this is a very cool cheat! :D

Sylon, I did finish the bartender's quest. I got his book, I gave it to him, and he gave me a key, and I actually have a key labelled celllar key, but the door in the cellar still says that I don't have the proper key, and the forcefield is still there. I've tried going back to talk to him again, and all he does is thank me for my help.

As for the question about the Redshift book, I am in ruined Decrantes-- standing right where Istara was, in the catacombs, in from of the empty book stand, where there's a pool of acid. You told her to try to hit and walk around, but I can't hit-- that is, there's no sound of hitting when I hit a few of the walls in the area right around the book stand, and nothing happens when I try that.

The Book is not in the catacombs but in the main Ruined Descrantes map. If you check everything there you will find it (it will not be an obvious place though)

Yes, the book is in Ruined Decrantes - not in the catacombs...

Bartender's key: that cellar has two doors and two keys. I think you've not found yet the first key to the first door - it's there, in that catacombs, behind a cracked wall, if I remember it correct.
The bartender's key is the second key for the second door.

Hi, great game, but I'm stuck in dark hall/Gods hall

I have switched the golden items in gods hall, performed the "leap of faith" and activated the switch, which moves one of the columns, surrounding the teleporter in the dark hall, but how do I remove the remaining columns????

Also, there is an area in the west part of dark hall, I can't access....

So, how do I get into the final part of the dark hall, and how do i remove the last columns???

Boy, I must be missing it--I just cannot find a cracked wall in the maze of souls. Can someone point me in the general direction? I assume it is on an outer wall, but I just cannot find it.

Hi. I had Legacy loaded on an external card and ran it that way for the whole game and it worked great. It doesn't seem to recognize the Expansion pack, though, unless both the expansion pack and the Legacy game are in main memory. Does Legacy support running from a card for the expansion pack? If so, where does the expansion pack need to be located? I tried it in the same directory as Legacy but that didn't work.

Ok, this game is killing me AND my screen protector.

I've been everywhere, it seems, and I oft have little clue how I got there, so when you guys give advice like, "where you picked the flowers," I'm like -- Eh? I grabbed the flowers DAYS ago, how the heck am I s'pozed to know where I was when I got those?

And it's taking me so FREAAAAKING long to get through this that every time I go back to a place, all monsters have regenerated... no fun when I'm wandering innocently down a corridor I THOUGHT was cleared out..

For example, I JUST encountered Grenelmera for the first time. And what does she say? "At last, you have the map...." What the HECK is she talking about? I've been carrying that map for WEEKS (ok, not really, but..) -- what the heck is going on here??

*sigh* ;-)

Possible bug with the Sorceress Queen.

After I killed her the first time, I got frustrated and tried a Clean Way spell. This pushed her to the limits of her plane beyond the area I could get to. She didn't move from there. I killed her with bows and spells and she dropped her scrolls beyond my reach.

If that had happened the last time I killed her, I think the statue would have been dropped beyond my reach.

Possibly not, I'll leave you to decide.

I'm stuck. I've explored and looked and wandered and examined and experimented and read this entire thread but I'm still stuck. Here's where I am:

God's Hall: Completed the whole level except the second south door. I can't find how to open it (or the energy barrier that appears to be just beyond it), no matter how I try.

Satan's Hall: Completed the whole level, but when I flipped the last switch it said "You hear a column moving..." and I don't have the slightest idea which colum that was. I've checked every column I can find, but they're all right where I left them.

Dark Hall: Completed the whole level except I can't get into the lower part of the "nose" or into the "third eye". I've looked all over, but I just can't figure out how to get in either of them.

Any help would be appreciated. I've been at this for days and it's no longer fun, so directions would be much more welcome than hints. Thank you.

Unregistered: for technical questions/answers, write to Stewe: stewe@redshift.hu

Gyffes: nothing special happened, just you got first the quest item, THEN reached the woman who gives the quest for that item. :)
Try not to discover everything in every direction, try to choose one way, and finish that, then go to another map-section. (The mission pack is not linear, like the main game, you can go everywhere from the city.)

Unregistered 2: yeah, that can be a bug - try not to "push" the Queen far from you when you are in a closed map area... :)

Liminal: first, go to the Legacy help site's mission pack section:
http://home.pacific.net.au/~istara/toby/legframeset.html
Second: there are three different ways from Ruined Decrantes to the Dark Hall - I think you have at least one way unfinished/undiscovered...
(The pillars are moving in the Dark Hall...)

Thank you for your response.

I've read the Legacy help site, but they don't have hints for any of the things I'm stuck on.

I've been through all three entrances from Ruined Decrantes to Dark Hall. Ruins of Hranemus enters the left "eye", Ruined Catacombs enters the right "eye", and the teleporter out in the void leads to the upper part of the "nose". I activated all the switches in those areas, but I still can't get into the "third eye" or bottom part of the "nose" in Dark Hall.

I assume the pillar that moved in Dark Hall from the switch in Satan's Hall must be in one of the two areas I still can't enter as I have checked all of the pillars otherwise.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post, but I'm afraid that I'm just as stuck as I was before.

Sylon/Redshift

The "nose" part will be the last part - you can reach it when you finish God's Hall and Satan's Hall. This two Halls has 1-1 lever which removes 1-1 pillar in the Dark Hall - then you can go into the teleporter which takes you into the "nose" part.

So you must finish first God's Hall... Check the Legacy help site for help, as always... There is the info you need. (Nothing too hard...)

SYLON, my dear, I have a problem.

I got the crucifix and placed it where I thought appropriate -- but nothing happened.

NOW I've gone back to that place and -- it's NOT THERE ANYMORE. The UnNamed remains a cranky snot and I don't have his freeeekin' Cross no more no more.

Do I have to go back to a saved game some twelve days earlier (and hope I still have the Cross) or what'??

And I _LIKE_ wandering aimlessly, killing whatever crosses my path. It is a problem, however. I cannot seem to close all the freeeekin' gates in Ancient Tower and now I can't tell where I've been! WAAH.

I think I'll just start over.

Gyffes, honey, if you lost a quest item, you never gonna finish that quest.... So I think it's better not to lost quest items. :) (After 7 days, every map "refreshes", so don't leave important items anywhere for seven days...)

So: yes, you have to reaload an another saved game... :)

(Btw, the crucifix-quest is not a very important quest - it's a side-quest - , this one goes only for some cool adamantium items, not for finishing the Mission Pack...)

I feel a little less like a moron....I did try that. But I tried it in new game, so it only gave me the first 2 cities. Went to an older saved game that I had completed (Sohl's chamber), and there it was.

The first two cracked walls are in the south-west part (not corner) of the Maze, the third one is in the north-east corner. The keys are behind these walls...

I'm at the teleport in the town of Decrantes. But I only see Town of Decrantes and Morah's plan.

No mission pack!!!

BTW: How can I solve Ashela's Gem?
I looked here http://www.hyperflame.com/toby/legframeset.html
But that didn't help very much!

You must use the teleporter in Grendelmore, because you need to be a rather tough guy to stand against Behemoths and others lurking around there :p
