Is yours like not completly closed? I mean mine locks and everything, but there is a gap in the middle. almost enough for me to stick a fingernail into it.

hmmm, being a teacher, I have no fingernails
but no, I don't have a gap like that, sounds odd

Because there is a lot of stress on opening/closing the cover, I think it gives a little on both ends of the cover. Just push it in.  Just think if this was mad of hard plastic, how many times would it break off?  Just a thought.
