I have just installed a Dlink 514 wireless router. I am just using it as an AP connected to my Linksys Etherfast Calbe/DSL Router. I am using Roadrunner's AOL setup as my internet connection from my desktop.

I have not been able to get my TJ37 to access through AOL though. After all this, I am thinking my problem is because I HAVE to go through AOL's program to acess the internet.

Is this right? Can I use Netfront on my TJ37 through AOL???? Is there a way to bypass AOL to get to the internet? I also have AOL for Palm 3.1 on my TJ37, but can't seem to use that either.

Does anyone have any advice on how to use the AOL internet access AND my Clie to access the internet??? Please??????

AOL is stupid. Sorry for my blunt remark. I just don't get why people use AOL on a cable modem. It's just AOL trying to hang on when dial-up is dying. Their program gives you no added benefit(besides the trouble it causes). Rant, rant, rant.....

Sorry for that. Anyway, do you have to login to AOL to use your PC? If so, you might be in a pickle. As for my cable modem, I use Roadrunner but not with AOL. Your connection should always be on so why would you want to have to sign in each time to use the Internet. I'd try to dump AOL and just use Roadrunner(if possible).

HEY! GUESS WHAT! I HAD THIS PROBLEM TOO!

A) try your hardest to get the credit back on ur card for the aol for palm as fast as you possibly can

B) you are skrewd - sorry but thats that

i am in the same situation, and the only way out is to get roadrunner or any other ALWAYS ON connection. AOL does not support wireless lan at all. they only provide the aol for palm for use with an external dial up modem, and have no plans of supporting people like us. I am trying hard to get my parents to get the roadrunner connection with the $15 a month overlay for broadband connections that AOL offers.

but yah - bluntly, you are screwed. get your money back... handango might just be nice if you ask for a re-credit to your card/account (assuming you didnt use a mastercard - it will let you cancel any charge if you claim it was an inferior product)

I too am having the same problem with aol dsl. I have no problem outside my home using other connections. The answer probably to get roadrunner and drop aol

Yah, im pretty sure thats the solution. I do have another thought though. If you like to keep AOL on on say a desktop all the time, MAYBE it is possible to set up that desktop as a proxy server for the palm. Correct me if i am wrong, and test it with me if i am not. Im looking into the possability tonight and i will post the results here if i finish in a timley maner.

'Til then, Alex

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

sorry for the crazy laugh... Im just so happy. I got it to work with aol!!!! hers the drill...

I can only assume you all have netfront (you do have clies) but any other proxy-enabled browser will work...

First download a proxy server for your desktop. the one i just tried is found at

http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm

install it and configure it. the readme file on this one has everything you need to know.

configure your browser (palm prowser) for the proxy, using the instructions found in the readme.

im sure we can find better, more secure proxy servers, but for now, this will do, and the instructions are great. post more for help.

Happily surfing, alex

As a continuation of the whole proxy thing, A) it works amazingly well and B) i found a new, extremely secure, extremely well featured proxy server. its homepage is http://www.alphalink.com.au/~gregr/freeproxy.htm

i think it might be alittle touchier then the other, but it may just be my config right now.
