Hi,

I've had my NX80V for about a week now - and it's a great bit of kit.

However, I've notice that, sometimes, its battery discharges at an alarming rate - about 1% every two or three minutes.

This is with no apps running

I've searched the forum and found a post regarding a (possible) issue with memory sticks, and I think this could be a source of the problem.

With a 64Mb Sony MS, the battery was discharging at the above rate. I removed it at 69%, placed my Clie in its stand (no power cable attached) and within five minutes it registered 79% charged. I need to experiment a bit more, but...

It reminded my of a problem the Psion Revo Plus has whereby its in-built battery monitoring software can go out of sync, with the result that it will constantly mis-represent the amount of charge, sometimes to the point where it claims it's out of battery when, in fact, it isn't. Is it possible that this could be happening with my Clie?

discharge the battery till maybe 20-25%...
then recharge it for like a whole day, 24hours
don't turn it on
and even if it light is off, keep letting it charge
don't touch it while its charging..
this MAY help your battery situation

Boy that rate is alarming ... have the battery checked. Did you charge it for at least 8-10 hours initially. I.e. when you bought it ???

Yup - I sat on my hands to stop me switching it on an having a play.

Thanks for the tip anitanium. What I might try doing is a full discharge - hard reset - full charge and seeing if that solves the problem.

The same thing has happened to me with my nx70v. Discharging the battery to near 0% and recharging has helped.

Hi,

I also think I'm seeing a difference between different brands of charger. I leave my cradle at the office and charge my CLIE thru that with the official Sony charger. However, in the weekend and when I travel, I use an iConcept travel charger.

On my last business trip, I was doing a lot of voice recording. On the first day of my trip, I noticed that my battery life was pretty good. It was running off a charge done at my office. In the remainder of the trip, I was charging my CLIE overnight with the travel charger and I noticed that the charge did not last as long.

Anyone seen anything comparable?
