Hiya,
I just received my Clie SJ333!!! Yeah!!!
BUT there's something that bothers me, i've downloaded the Palm OS4.0 and have installed it.
Connect the USB so as to hotsync with my clie and desktop...
Tap on the Clie screen Hotsnyc...
windows appear: UNABLE TO INITIATE HOTSYNC OPERATIONS BECAUSE THE PORT IS IN USE BY ANOTHER APPLICATIONS.
Why is this happening? there's 2 ports. I tried both and have restarted...doesnt seem to work. Any help?
thanks

i need to know a bit more. . .
what os are you using 9.x or 10.x?
are you using missing sync?
are you connecting directly to the mac or using a hub?
answer these questions and i can give you a better answer. the more info the better.:p

Thanks Bro!
I'm using an iMac MacOs10.2.4 and have not download the Missing Sync yet as I want to know whether its my new Clie SJ33 which is faulty.
I'm connected to the imac directly to the USB port, not using any hub.
Written to MarkSpace and they told me the Clie NZ90/SJ33 will work on their Missing Sync 3.0.5 which apparently is now under BETA testing. So if I were to download their Missing Sync now, can it work and will it show the errro window as well?
The first error appears on the Clie with MacOS 10.2.4 is:
"....the port is being used by another application"
I tried another way, uninstall the Palm OS4, installed Palm OS2.6.3 onto my native OS9 and this time another error msg appear on the Clie:
" Your Computer and Handheld cannot establish a connection. Please check your setup and try again."
So two differnt error messages on two different OS.
What could be the cause? Maybe I'm the unluck few which the unit doesnt sync right out of the box right away...
Thanks! Your help is much appreciated!

that's the kind of "more info" i'm talking about:D
here is the scoop.
in os9.x you have to have missing sync to sync any of the clie devices. the good folks at sony use nonstandard usb commands in their connection strings and missing sync corrects that problem.
in os 10.x you usually get that error if classic is running. classic has a bad problem of grabbing usb ports for no apparent reason. usually if you turn off classic you won't have that problem.
since the sj33 is mp3 capable you need missing sync to connect properly to os 10.x this will also give you all the features you already know about from the website. it is also more stable than regular for non-mp3 capable clies.
while 3.05 is still in beta, it is a very stable beta and i would not hesitate getting it. once you make the leap to using the best pda with the best computer your life will be full of joy.:p :D

Thanks Parmesian,
So i guess its safe to say that my Clie is not at fault?
And I can safely make my Missing sync purchase?
Classic is not running while I try to sync with OS 10.2.4...still give me the same old errors.
So i guess Missing Sync is my only solution.
I thought the Clie can sync out of the box with Mac. sigh.
Thanks agin bro! Really appreciate it!
