I use a Mac with my NX-60, and I'd like to be able to playback video files with it. I can't seem to find anywhere which states the exact format of the .mqv files that the CLie plays back. I think if I have a small sample clip to work with, I can determine the correct settings to make my movie files. Can anyone email me a small 1 sec video widget, taken with one of the camera-based NX or NZ series so that I can analyze it? I've read that its an MPEG-4 file with specific formatting.

Or if anyone has experience with getting this going on the Mac platform, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to play movies on my Clie from my Mac. I can't seem to find anyone that has had success with mpeg4 files. I can view mpeg1's, but they are huge. I know QuickTime can open the .mqv files, I want to make them on my Mac.

hmm..
i'm not sure if there is a program that allows making a mqv file..
i think a mpg would be a better choice..
if you encode it right, it is virtualy flawless and the quality is a bit better than mqv

I can't comment on the quality difference between mpeg1 vs. mpeg4, but the file size is huge. I know this should be possible, and the starting point is to have an actual .mqv file to play around with to use as a reference.

I dont know if this will help and then again I dont use a mac but I'll still tell this - maybe it might help. If you are looking to reduce the space that these movie files take on your Mac then you could convert them using the IC and then just copy them back. The IC convers it to MPEG-4. That way you could also get yourself a sample to work with. The install CD that comes with the Clie also has a few sample clips that you could work with. I know what I am saying is a lot of additional work but it might help .. :)

just rename your *.mqv files to *.mov and open with quicktime

I don't think it's possible, or at least there is no one that knows how. I have seen this question pop up a number of times. I would like to be able to do it on the PC even since it would be nicer to make the movies using Quicktime rather than the Image Convertor. But Quicktime seems to have no way to output the exact same settings that the Clie supports.
I seem to remember someone saying that the Image Convertor adds a special header to the beginning of the movie that Quicktime ignores when playing back on a computer, but is required to playback on the Clie.
