Perhaps this is a dumb quesiton, but I'm drawing a blank...
I am syncing my NR70 w/the Palm (Clie) Desktop, but I want to switch to sync it with MS Outlook. How do I make the change? How do I go back if I don't like Outlook?
Thanks for your help!:)

You need a third party program like Chapura's PocketMirror (http://www.chapura.com/) or the program that came on your Sony CD, Intellisync. I prefer PocketMirror. If you don't like the result, you can uninstall the third party app and you'll be back to using the Sony Desktop software.
Reinstall the software from the CD, but select sync to outlook instead of Palm Desktop.

Got it set up to sync to Outlook using the included Intellisync (Lite), but when I sync, after the datebook is synced, I get an error message that says unable to read file format (or somethign like that) on the handheld. When I click OK, it stops my hotsync, leaving only the calander synced, but not my tasks, notes, etc.
Any ideas as to what's up?

I've never used Intellisync. PocketMirror Pro has served me well for almost three years, and is very configurable in its behavior.
Yes, Intellistink is lousy. If you owned a Palm or Visor, you can install Pocket Mirror from the software CD as I did. PM is a much better program.

I do own a Palm...I'll check to see if PM is on the CD. Am I correct in assuming that PM works well with the Clie? Also, should I remove Intellisync first, or does it matter if it's still on my PC?

I use Desktop to Go from Dataviz to sync with Outlook. By far the simplest solution to the Clie(palm)/Outlook sync solution. It evens gives you the option to enable copying the standard address, todo, datebook and memo databases to the Palm Desktop folders as part of the hotsync operation. I use it everyday. Just my .02 cents

Since I need to sync with both Lotus Notes and Outlook, I've found IntelliSync (http://www.pumatech.com/is_desktop_main.html) to be the best solution for me. Unlike some others, I've had no problems at all, and find it highly configurable and easy to use.

hherbzilla,
Any idea why I would be getting an error message while syncing that ends my hot sync after the datebook is synced?

No, PM will replace the Intellisync conduits. PM works very well with my T665.

For those of you using Pocket Mirror, what do you use to sync email? Also, is PM Pro worth the upgrade?

I don't sync mail, but I believe that mail syncs through the Palm conduit. PM only handles calendars, contacts, todos, and memos. PM Pro will sync Outlook subfolders as Palm categories (and visa versa). As of PM Pro 3.1.2, calendar categories to programs like Datebk5 that handle those. There are other nice features in Pro that include filtering by category and improved conflict resolution for items changed both on the desktop and handheld. For complex Outlook/Datebk5 usage, the Pro version is definitely worth the difference.

Thanks for the info Bob.
BTW, anybody know where I can download the Palm Desktop for Clie? I have made a royal mess of things and need to go back to it (at least for the moment). Unfortunately, my CD is at my office.
Thanks!

Sony's support website here (http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/clie/n610c/softupdates/). You also need to download any upgrades (primarily for XP) for your specific device, choosing your device here (http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/clie/). That should set you up.
