Hi everyone,

Yesterday after performing a hard reset and after I answered "no" to "erase all data?" my UX50 didn't want to turn on anymore. I don't even have the charging orange led.

Has anyone had the same problem?

thanks!

hey Olimac :p

As i told you on pdafrance, i think you need to let it discharge completely and then try charging it again...next step would be calling Sony...

Here's my personnal experience with a "dead" ux50 :

If you have a screen protector, be sure its not pressing the screen.
A problem like that gave me a lot of headaches, it turned out to be the protector, i changed it, and the problem was solved.

there were a couple of threads regarding this issue

either try perform hard reset while UX50 is powered in craddle (not an easy job, you need to adjust an office pin) or diassemble the unit and disconnect the batter for couple of minutes

Thanks for your answers,

I unplugged the battery, then plugged it again, and it works.

Quite difficult to remove those screws with 5 points!

I had the same problem yesterday, and thanks to this link it is fixed. I suddenly could not turn on the unit, no led lights, even charger light. No response to soft reset.
I was about to start figuring out how to send it to the states to fix.
Today I decided to take the risk, and after seeing those penta-screws, decided to take out the bettery from the side of the unit. It was easy enough, but once outside, puting it back is almost impossible due to the short electric wires. I have elongated these by soldering an extension. Thereafter the reconnection was straightforward and easy. As the longer connection wire was longer now, I had to use some force to press back the battery, but it finally went in and the unit work flowlessly.
Thanks again for all the information.

a flat screwdriver is enough to remove the screws!

I'm sorry I didn't post that information before...
