I checked both compusa stores and the local circuit city stores and none are going to carry the spare battery. Are your stores carrying it?

check pricegrabber.com, starstreak. Lots of places WILL carry the battery but most don't have it right now.

Search on the item number pega-bp500

I don't think it's available yet, maybe soon. I could be wrong.

I guess I was wrong. Nothing new. It's a daily event in my life.

I guess that you think an extra battery is worth it. I don't have my NZ yet (hopefully soon!), but I'm trying to decide about the extra battery. Not that it's not worth having. It would always come in handy, but I'm not sure about carrying it around with me.(all of the time, some of the time)

Besides the 20 pics, how much time during the day did you spend using it?

truthfully dont know timewise...maybe an hour alltogether..here is what I do to save battery:

1) Turn backlighting almost all the way down, just a few notches above the lowest, since the screen is so bright I really dont need it any brighter and save battery big time.

2) Turn off beam receive

3) mute all sounds...unless listining to a movie, or mp3

the farthest my battery has gone down since I got the nZ90 in one day was 40% and that was becuase I was using the wifi card which is a real battery eater..that is why I was spending a lot of time to get the Bluetooth to work, because it takes up very little battery.

For me it's a must have. I can be away from the charger for more than 24 hours and need my NZ for work. I'm outta juice, I'm dead in the water. That's why I WAS going to go with the portable charger choices, but I'm learning that that may not be such a hot idea.

More justification for the battery, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info, davy19! It still sounds positive to me! I still want one!

littlesix here is what I do...

since the cradle is nice and portable, what I do have is the extar charger and cradle always with me and just plug the cradle into the charger and then put the NZ90 on the cradle.

That makes sense. I know that I'll almost always be able to charge within 24 hours, so I will probably have to wait and see what battery life I get out of it.

And, btw, I already have a car charger for my nx, so that will help.

Everyone is different, I really dont travel much except on the train to and from work and to home.

At home I have the usb sync cable and and a charger on my desk..and at work same exact setup, I just take the portabile cradle with me and put it in my bag and bring it to work, then at end of day bring cradle home.

that might not work for people who travel a lot and will need an extra battery.

was reading Sonys site about the charger. Is it true I can't just plug it into the wall? I actually have to lug around my stand to plug it in? Thats a ripoff.

Davy - good suggestion but I'm always travelling. I'm not in one spot at all. In the course of one day, I might be outside for 8 hours and 6 of that in a car.

Short of superglueing a cradle to the dash and then superglueing the NZ IN the cradle, it won't work for me :D

Will the NZ90 (and perhaps the TG-50) take generic batteries that will be really cheap form somewhere else or did sony Propraitaryize the battery just like everything else the make? (I don't hate sony, just some of thier habits)

Man I need a spare, when you think that the camera stops working at 35% it makes it usless for over half the battery. when you consider the drain it puts.

Right now, I did a full drain to 0% and recharged it (7 hours+). And after taking like 2 shots with flash, 2 no flash (at different times) and abobut 30min of use(not straight use), 50% brightness, and BT on. I'm at 75% power after little over 6 hours.

I am curious, what's a new battery going for $USD$?

I believe Sony sells it for 79 U.S. dollars. Probably can get it cheaper elsewhere, if and when they get them in stock.
