i know this has been discussed like crazy, but is aim and verichat the only ones out there? i'm sure not too attached to my aim program, and i'm not really interested in paying for verichat since i'm not goin to be using the program that much.
if anyone can make any suggestions or just let me know whats out there i'd appreciate it.
thanks

OHH! Thanks!
But can you run it with only the .prc file or do you need the special java package to make palm pilots java compatible?

I don't much love the interface, but I'm still looking for something I like better that isn't a pay service like verichat.

http://paulotaylor.com/palmmsn/
Palm MSN needs the java file (about 500K) installed in RAM to work.

Isn't a good deal, but I have so many other programs on the MS that even with it there I still have over 7M left. But, I would certainly love to find an MSN app that doesn't require Java AND isn't a pay service! If anyone sees one.....

I use Yahoo.
I only have seen the phone instant messenger on their site.
Could someone give me a link to palm version?

I agree...verichat interface is by far the best. I bought it (1 year's worth) and love it... but it would be much better if it didn't work on their proxy and you needed a "subscription" to use it.

Give me a hand here.
I just hooked up the WiFi card today and i'm checking out my new options.
My confusion is:
With any of these IM programs are you limited to only "subscribers" to that provider?
Or, can you get to AOL people if you are using the MSN IM program [or ICQ or Verichat or whatever] and Vice-versa??

Congrats...
You don't need to subscribe to use the IM's themselves (have an account with them, that's it).. but verichat uses a proxy server to communicate with the IM servers. If you buy verichat, u have the option for a 1 year or lifetime subscription to use their service of relaying messages through their proxy server. I got the 1 year.. who know's how long the company will be around providing service.
There are free options (like PalmMSN) that don't use a proxy server, and communicate directly just like MSN messenger does on your desktop. However, you can't use PalmMSN or verichat to communicate accross different IM's.
