i found this case on ebay. looks like it charges from the case directly with a usb cable. it also has adapters that charge through the case from a lighter plug and wall socket. anybody had experience with these cases before i drop the money on it?

My case looks the same, but didn't have the powersupplies and cables with it. It works great, but you need to know that if you hotsync with USB you cannot charge and Hotsync the same time because you have to move the cable from the case to the USB connector of the Clie. The USB connector on the case is only for charging, not for Hotsync. I payed 30US$ including shipping to Germany without the cables and powersupplies.

What I miss is a belt-clip.
And the UX gets a littly bit thick with the case.

I have one of these cases and find it very useful. It does make the unit a little bulkier but this is ofset by the convenience of having a built in charger. I'm happy with it and can reccomend it to those who would like an alternative to using the supplied external charger.

I also have one of these cases made by "Exim Accessories". I find it very useful since I don't have to bring my cradle to work just to keep my UX50 charged up. It doesn't fit the UX50 with the EB but then if you can charge on the fly, you don't have to carry around the EB.
