I have a question for those T415 users that have upgraded to the T665. Do you feel that the upgrade was worth the added expense?
I have used my T415 for nearly a year and have been very happy with it. There are three little shortcomings that cause me to consider upgrading: color, RAM, and speed. The most important of these is speed. My T415 really seems to be slow these days. I would really like to see the quick screen response that I see on some of the other systems that I see around.
Do you feel that the T665 is significantly faster in both screen response, and MS access than the T415?
Do you feel that a color screen has significantly improved your PDA (not entertainment, I use my unit as a PDA) experience?
Do you find the extra RAM to be useful?
I am thinking about trying to make my T415 last until the OS5 units come down in price, or maybe wait until OS6 is released. Maybe I can simply tweak the speed with FastCPU. Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Color makes a difference. I've seen it and witnessed when I originally upgraded from a Visor Deluxe to a N760C. It is really noticeable when viewing images or other graphically intensive items.
As for the speed, my Mom's T415 is kinda slugish compared even to my SJ30. She doesn't mind because she knows she gets my SJ30 when I get my next PDA.
Of course extra RAM is always useful. I keep DocsToGo on my Clie and several other programs and I have almost 8 of the 15 available MB of RAM used. With a T415, I would've had to put some of the items on a Memory Stick.
Use AfterBurner to tweek the speed and see if you like it.

Try afterburner before FastCPU because FastCPU does have some stability issues.

I just upgraded my T615 to a T665 the other week after owning it since last July and just the speed alone made it justified IMO. But on top of that the screen is just awesome, and I was able to keep the form factor of the 615 which I love. If you want to make great use of the memory card the speed access from it is also a vast improvement over even the 615. Having the extra RAM is a HUGE plus, and trust me you WILL find a use for it. My dad actually converted from his old Visor to a 665 when he saw the screen on mine. The ONLY thing that I don't like about this model is its already noted poor battery life between charges but even that isn't so bad...I keep my brightness level all the way down and the screen is still excellent though. I think this is the best mid range Palm you can own at the moment. :) Better think fast though because its selling out all over the place.
Bottom line, if you can afford to....upgrade all the way!
BTW, if anyone is interested, I have a T615 for sale :D

I owned a Casio EM500 PPC back when and ended up selling it 6 months later for the T615C. I really liked the Casio and think PPC's are really cool in general but I prefer the simplicity of the Palm OS. I didn't care for the numerous crashes I'd have to deal with every week on the PPC and just don't find them to be as intuitive or stable as my T665 nor have AS vast a library of programs to choose from in comparison to Palm. The one thing I really do miss is the Microsoft Ebook reader, but as for playing games....I'll stick with my Game Boy Advance if I have the urge for portable gaming. :D
BTW, I've been lurking here for the past 7 months or so and figured I'd sign up finally. Just wanted to thank all you guys for a lot of instrumental reading that has helped me in the way of Clie :)

I switched from a 415 to a 665 about a month ago. I love the 665. It is noticeably quicker, and I was using FastCPU on the 415, and the screen is amazing. Only thing I have to get used to is the battery life, it only lasts about a third of the time my 415 did. But I have no regrets. Good luck.

LanMan:
I made the switch a couple of months ago. I am really happy with the 665. The speed is noticeably different. The screen is great - and even though I use it in the same way you do (primarily as a PDA and not for entertainment) yet I have enjoyed the entertainment value.
I have noticed that the speed of MS access is much better too.
I was very happy with the 415, but am glad I made the switch.

Both T415 and T665c are great PDAs.
Believe it or not, the T665c has slightly more viewable area on the screen than the T415. I suggest you make the switch now since the T665c is going to be discontinued really soon (and the price value is great). Don't bother too much about the thickness of the T665c -- you'll get used to it.
If you don't like to charging your handheld every night or the placement of the jog dial, then I suggest you get the SJ33. Same specs as the T665c with longer battery life plus redesigned plastic body.
