I've used my NZ-90 so much that the three raised knobs (knubbins?) on the power button have almost worn away. This makes turning the 90 on and off a bit tricky. Does anyone have suggestions? I've considered using a Dremel tool to file a definitive edge to the curved base of the button but I suspect the metal there is thin and I'd sure hate to break off the end.

metal??? the nz90 is pure plastic buddy, i cant believe that those three wore away on mine there is no color left but all the buttons are fine, although i would really like a broken nz for parts because a piece above the screen is broken (the part where sony is written).

I, too, have worn away all the little nubs on my power switch. Now, I use my fingernail to catch the top of the switch and pull it downward.

By golly, zamanakhan, it it appears the button is indeed made of plastic...although most of the skin appears to be of metal (according the the results of my tap-on-the-teeth test).

There are still several nz-90 reviews alive on the web. Here's one...

...that speaks to the magnesium casing.

Had a similar problem on a CD player and other equipment some time ago. Here's an idea, superglue a piece of hook fastner (a.ka. velcro) onto the switch cover. Since it is so small, take caution not to superglue the body too:D
Should work fine for a long time, and if it wears out, glue away again!
Lots of luck.

Thanks Superfrog. Sounds like a simple and elegant solution.
