You have to update your Audible Manager to the newest version updated yesterday. All OS 5.0 Clies are now supported.

Bad news is the sound quality is terrible. Guess they are using the low quality Sony API to get this working. Type 3 audio files sound like Type 1, but it does work. No background playback either.

I appreciate Audible going to the trouble of adding this feature, but I'm sticking with my old standby of converting them to MP3s.

Sounds like a job for CliePet!

Thanks for the info, Archangel!

I now have Audible working on my NX70V and I ordered an extra MS to hold some audio books.

I used to use Gold Wave to convert files fof the NX70. Then, I finally bought an Otis because the Otis was easier and I want to listen any time, any where and I was worried about dropping and breaking the NX70. I thought if I break the Otis, it is no great loss.

Now, I think I will use both devices depending on the situation.

This is very cool!  I've been waiting for this and it came just in time for my NX80 to die.  Literally minutes after getting Audible working, some metal pieces came loose in the CF slot and must have shorted something out.  I'm up and running again on my "old" NX70.

Background play does work with the Hold button, but not while working in other apps.  Sound is terrible, but listenable and it doesn't bother me.  I'm just happy to have it.  Considering the workaround necessitated by Sony's proprietary crap this is a major achievement.

BettyE have you tried listening to audible.com on your clie, and if so, how does it compare to your otis, sound wise?
